I hear from several fans that they will stop going to games because of status of the Dodgers concerning the ownership but for me…
I am not willing to miss seeing Kemp, Ethier, Loney, Kershaw, Billz, Broxton and Russell, my favorites! Nope, I am not going to miss hearing Vin Scully at the games.
There is no better sound than when I walk inside Dodger Stadium and I listen to Nancy Bea in the background while I walk over to the bullpen area and I hear the sound the ball is making as it hit the mitt. The boys in Blue on the field hitting BP and the pitchers in the outfield catching some baseballs.
Vin already made my day last Sunday by smiling and waiving at my friend Erik and I when we greeted him and wished him to have a happy Easter.
Nope, no matter what, I will be at the stadium, day in and day out. Is is my happy home, it is my home away from home.
There is Sandy Koufax on this picture walking to the field. He is also on the big screen.
When I am at Dodger Stadium and I look to the field and then take the rest of the view from there with the mountains in the background, all is right with the world.
Yeah, there will be some games that I will be cursing under my breath, but they will others that will be exhilarating and no better way to share those moments than with my friends at the stadium.
Let the second game begin in Pittsburgh! We got 22-year old Clayton Kershaw going this evening.
For those giving Joe Torre a hard time for starting Padilla for the Opener on the road, I say to them, did you hear what Vin Scully said ? If you did not, here it is:
“In Showbiz you would say you are opening a big musical and you would say “Padilla, you are singing the lead in Hartford, Connecticut. And you would say “Kershaw, you are singing the lead on Broadway.” “
I love my Dodgers!
First of all, I want to give a big thank you to my friend Mike! Wow Mike! You blew me away with this post! Not only did you give us a wonderful post of our Brooklyn Bums when they won in 1955 but when I saw the title I was what? Wow Mike! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
When I first started reading Mike’s blog, I became hooked so jump on his Brooklyn Trolley for a wonderful ride!
Spring Training in Arizona
I have been having a ball here in Arizona! If you have not been to Spring Training, make an effort to go. Is so much fun seeing the regular players, the ones trying to make the team and others within the organization and those that work covering the Dodgers.
Tony Jackson who used to work for the Daily News and now works for ESPN Los Angeles, came over to greet me after I yelled “HEY TONY!” I am so glad that Tony is back working as a Dodger Beat Writer!
And Mike, yes, the patch is a go! Here is Loney sporting the patch. This picture is also for those that are looney for Loney:
Here is one for all the Ethierholics! is ao nice to see Andre’s swing! Thank you to my friend that I have nicknamed her Juana Soo Hoo for the great pictures she takes!
When I get home I will upload more pictures!
I also have some funny anecdotes to tell!
We had a lot of fun at the first game when we got there about an hour before game time. The following day we got there as soon as they let us get in which is 9:AM. I greeted the players as they made their way through the roped area. Everyone was so nice with “Hey!, good morning!” “hey, how are you?” I LOVE MY BOYS IN BLUE!
Rafael Furcal and Manny seemed inseparable. I greeted Rafi and he greeted me back. And then I said “Como estas Manny” He reponded smiling “Bien, Bien, si me puedo levantar en la manana, todo esta bien.” “Good, good, if I can get up in the morning, eveything is fine!”
Sunday’s game, after no news online that the game was going to be cancelled at Mesa, we headed that way. The Cub’s ballpark reminded me of Wrigley Field. There was a signing with ex-players such as Fergusen Jenkins, Rollie Fingers and Tommy Davis. I stopped to talk to Tomy Davis so I did not see who else was there. As I was talking to Tommy Davis, they made the announcement that the game had been cancelled so after I purchased a ball signed by Tommy Davis, we left. I know I can get Tommy to sign at Dodger Stadium or any event by the Dodgers but I felt that I am helping by making a purchase there. The balls were $20. Tommy signed it “Tommy Davis NL Batting Champ 1962 1963.

I owe a few fans pictures so I was looking at my old camera and found some pictures that I wanted to share
First of all, here are my nieces Kirsten and Krystal. I took them to the Kids corral where kids and adults too might get autographs if the kids ask nicely. It was a hot day in the middle of the summer.
I love you girls!
I was driving to work when I spotted this bus so I chased it down until I could take a picture. I have another picture that I wa closer but I like this one where you can see a little of a mountain in the background. It startled me that I got too close.. i
From the Viva Los Dodgers festival. “ESTA ES MI CIUDAD” means “THIS IS MY TOWN”, the theme for 2009.
This is Dee. Check out her Vin Scully tatoo! It was done by Trublue, a tatoo parlor owned by a die hard Dodger fan.
The Colorado Rockies took the first game as the Dodger bullpen came up short in the first game and today I learned why Joe Torre did not bring George Sherrill in the 10th inning of that game. Sherrill felt tightness in his right side earlier that day. MRI came out negative!
In the second game, Randy Wolf got his fourth consecutive win giving up one run in 7 1/3 inning to give the Rockies only their second loss in the last games! That was also Randy’s #99 win! Let’s hope he gets #100 in his next start!
Congratulations to Andre Ethier who hit homerun #26 and #27! Also congratulations James Loney who finally got #8!
Rubber game (I’d love to have that rubber figure) is an early one. Vicente Padilla gets his start against Jorge de La Rosa. I just learned that Vicente is from Nicaragua. He is the first Nicaraguan to start for the Dodgers!
Behave Vicente and have a good game! I wonder if I can have my headphones on while I go to my Pilates class at noon.
Quick Trivia I heard during last night’s game : Name the only three teams that have never had a player hit for the cycle?
That is how the text message I got this morning started. I was like “Is this a joke?” After confirming it I was like Wow :-( Very very sad. Got to look at the bright side that at least is going to start now and not later. He will l begin the suspension with tonight’s game so he would be eligible to return around July 3, depending on rainouts.
Let’s see we have Juan Pierre on the bench. Xavier Paul (the X Man) is expected to be called back from Tripe-A . Press conference this afternoon.
Happy Birthday James Loney! See you at the game tonight!
My Loney has a first name is J A M E S
My loney has a second name is L O N E Y
Oh I love to see him everyday and if you ask me why I’ll say….
‘Cause Loney has a way wtih H I T T I N G !
Let’s go Dodgers! Let’s go!
Meanwhile back at the Ranch…part 2.
Sunday 3/1 Opening Day (posting 3/7/09 from hotel in Glendale, AZ)
So this is the day that my friend Lore, Erik & I had been waiting for! We just had to go to the Grand Opening of Camelback Ranch! I had gone downstairs to use the computer and print the thread tited :-) There were problems with the printer but I finally got it printed and rushed thru the hot breakfast offered at Springfield Hotel (perfect name!). While I was making my waffle and waiting for it to cook, I was having a small bowl of oatmeal. My friends were anxious to get me out of there.& The Boys of Summer. I was hoping to give it to him to encourage him to do well
We got to the Camelback Ranch’s parking lot and paid $5 for parking. When we started walking out of the car I heard someone yelled “Emma!”. It was one of my neighbors at Dodger Stadium. She with her hubby and their 2 little girls sit infront of me. We hugged and caught up with each other since (scratches head) oh yeah since the event for season ticket holders at Dodger Stadium in December.
So now we are at the roped area where fans wait for players to pass by. We saw Either and I told him ‘Andre! We need a new restaurant review!’ He looked back, smiled and pointed a finger in my direction. Next James Loney went by and we sang the Loney song that two posters from ITD came up with (I’ll incude names afterwards ). Loney and some of the players smiled at the song. It goes like this:
My Loney has a first name. is J A M E S
My Loney has a second name, is L O N E Y
Oh I like to see him every day and if you ask me why I’lll say
Cause Loney has a way with H I T T I N G.
Fans applauded us after heading the song :-)
Ok, so next we wanted to see Jeff Weaver. Lore is a fan of Weaver and I wanted to give him my post. Everyone said he had already gone by, so after watching some of the guys practice, we came back to the roped line to see if we could see Weaver. I spotted him signing autographs and I said “WEAVER!” I startled him and he said “That is me”. I asked him if he coud read what I had posted in my blog and basically told him what was in the page. He took it and stuffed it in his pocket and said he would read it later. He told me he remembered that game he pitched at Dodger Stadium against Roger Clemens well.
So Weaver continued to sign autographs and pose for pictures. He seemed like he was having a good time. I got on the phone and called Lore to ask her where she was and that Weaver was right infront of me. She was almost at the end of the line so I moved there with her and told her I could take a picture of her and Weaver since I’ve seen him posing for pics. But when he got to where we were, he picked up his things and we were like “ohhhh”, BUT he threw his things at the end of the line and came back. Everyone applauded him. I took the picture of Lore & Weaver and while he was signing Lore’s ball, I said “We are glad to have our guerito back.” Guerito is an endearing term for a blond guy. He smiled and said “also flaquito”. LOL. I did not know he knew a few words in Spanish. Flaquito means skinny. Note that adding the “ito” for males or “ita” for females, it makes it an endearing term.
We lost that game, but we had a lot fun and did not want to go back home. We drove back Sunday evening working on plans to come back soon.
