Before I head back to CamelbackRanch this weekend, I wanted to post more pictures from my first trip so here they are:
The seven of us with Manny Mota. Too bad the kid taking the picture did not get us all in the picture. Good thing Rosie had another picture.
Sneaking in with Tommy Lasorda. Tommy had signed a ball for me back in 2010 but the ink was getting lighter (no, I did not originally use a blue pen) so he signed it again. He also signed my Mark Langill book. He started looking at the pictures in the book commenting about the rookies of the year on the opposite page where he signed. Thanks Tommy! Love you!
Everyone stopped to watch Kershaw pitch in the intersquad game.
Kershaw had a good outing.
It was time for us to head out but before that we spotted Pepe Yniguez with Bill DeLury. Mr. DeLury has been with the Dodgers since 1950, mostly as Traveling Secretary. He started with the Dodgers as a 17-year- old office boy. Evan of Opinion of Kingman’s Performance did a wonderful job in interviewing Mr. DeLury. Here is the link http://opinionofkingmansperformance.blogspot.com/2011/06/second-longest-tenured-dodger-employee.html
Lorena with Pepe Yniguez. Pepe has been broadcasting Dodger games en Espanol since 1999.
Pepe also teams up with Manny Mota calling some games on TV on Time Warner cable channel 858
Javy Guerra got a kick of Rosie bringing the Rookie Hazing picture of Javy dressed as a Taco.
Javy when he saw me that I sporting my Javy batting practice jersey, he turned me around to show another player and said “See? she is my number ONE fan!” :-)
I was playing photographer. Here is Priscy with Javy
Here is Amanda with Javy
Here is Tony Jackson, Beat Writer for ESPN Los Angeles. I like his long hair.
Taking a well deserved rest before we go inside Margaritaville
After food and drinks we headed next door to Saddle Ranch for some tequila shots and to ride the mechanical bull
The bull kicks Rene
Priscy is next
She gets knocked out but she gets back on the bull
She is having a bull, I mean a ball lol
Nice going Desiree! Even falling, you fall with grace.
Time to head back to LA. I am going going back to Cali Cali…..
Next Trip: Leaving Thursday night with Lorena and her niece Elisa. Lorena will be driving. They will drive back to Cali. I on the other hand need to head to NH to work there the following week so I will miss Sunday’s game as my flight leaves at noon. I can’t wait for Thursday night!
This the hat that i wore for the past couple of years to Viva Los Dodgers and for Cinco de Mayo celebrations. This picture is from last year’s Viva Los Dodgers event.
Last night I was told I could not enter the stadium with the hat. I said they should have made an announcement that the rules have been changed. A lot of people take the shuttle to the stadium so they don’t have a car close by. Since I was there early for BP and had entered thru the field level, I asked if there was a way that I or they could take it upstairs to the Top Deck security since it was easier to exit there after the game. They said no.
Another thing is, they do not let fans come down to the field level. You have to walk outside and then go around to come back to the field level.
After I entered the stadium, I spotted ten different fans with sombreros so what is up with that? Not everyone knew the “new rules”? or what some of my friends and I have noticed lately when arrriving early for BP that there is a new trend having different rules for different fans (a rant for another time)
I was going to post the pictures of the fans I saw with sombreros but I don’t have the camera cable with me right now.
But look, even Tommy used to wear a sombrero back in the old days. Here he is with Fernando. nice picture ha?
So first on Opening Day, head of security in the field level objected to my bag that said “Hilda is Here!” done to honor the Brooklyn days of Dodger faitfhful Hilda Chester. And they also objected to my friend Erik’s bag, who was dressed as the Brooklyn Dodger bum and carried a shoulder bag that said “This IS the Year!” See post here Emma and Erik dressed as Hilda Chester and the Brooklyn Dodger bum but here is a picture
I wanted to go talk to someone from the Fan Services, so I went to where they always have been, club level close to the escalator. I was told it was moved to the other side of the club level, the right field side level by the club level restaurant. so I walked there and was told no, but that they have them at every level this year.
and walked to the Left field side (I was told aisle 39). No-one there on that window. By this time I was already tired and hungry so up I went to my Top Deck seat to eat and prepare my scorebook to watch the game.
Worst part of the last two days: The Dodgers have given up 22 RUNS! 22 RUNS! This was wtih Kershaw on the mound on Tuesday and Billingsley on Wednesday. Can anyone besides Kuroda pitch for this team????
Let’s see what tonight brings with right-hander John Ely, making his second career start
It could be Ely’s last start for some time with reliever Jeff Weaver expected to return from the disabled list before Friday’s game against the Rockies.
I hope everyone is having a beautiful Jackie Robinson Day! I am off in a few minutes to my beloved OLOCR (Our Lady of Chavez Ravine). I got my Jackie Robinson jersey in the car!
I am still high from the great Opening Day! After Vin Scully threw out the ceremonial first pitch, I could not stop the tears when I heard Vin say “Two things, #1 In all the years I needed you more than you needed me”. “#2. Is time now for Dodger Baseball”. He threw out the ceremonial first pitch to Joe Torre. Joe came over afterwards and touched his face. Vin’s wife was wearing a beautiful baby blue dress.
The players were announced in numerical order with Tommy Lasorda being first with his #2 retired number. No, he did not have his uniform on. He only wears it during Spring Training. the players came out from the field level and the outfielders and pitchers from the left field pavilion. The last number coming out was #99 Manny.
We all heard O-Dog hit for the cycle, Andre hit two homeruns but Chad Billingsley cannot be overlooked in his great performance where he did not walk a batte rand he struck out
13. 11. Thanks LuvDodgers23 for the correction!
Wishing you all a great Jackie Robinson Day!
