and Clayton Kershaw (22) days till Opening Day at Petco Park
WOOHOOO!!! Can’t wait. In the meantime I went to see UCLA play USC at Dodger Stadium last night. Here are the 2012 pocket schedules we picked last night at Dodger Stadium.
Look at the upcoming promotion for Mother’s Day! An Andre Ethier bag
I had a great time sitting with Dee, Kevin, Ernest & Arturo. Arturo in the USC sweatshirt. Kevin is the one behind the green hat & Ernest with his Dodger hat.
Before I head back to CamelbackRanch this weekend, I wanted to post more pictures from my first trip so here they are:
The seven of us with Manny Mota. Too bad the kid taking the picture did not get us all in the picture. Good thing Rosie had another picture.
Sneaking in with Tommy Lasorda. Tommy had signed a ball for me back in 2010 but the ink was getting lighter (no, I did not originally use a blue pen) so he signed it again. He also signed my Mark Langill book. He started looking at the pictures in the book commenting about the rookies of the year on the opposite page where he signed. Thanks Tommy! Love you!
Everyone stopped to watch Kershaw pitch in the intersquad game.
Kershaw had a good outing.
It was time for us to head out but before that we spotted Pepe Yniguez with Bill DeLury. Mr. DeLury has been with the Dodgers since 1950, mostly as Traveling Secretary. He started with the Dodgers as a 17-year- old office boy. Evan of Opinion of Kingman’s Performance did a wonderful job in interviewing Mr. DeLury. Here is the link http://opinionofkingmansperformance.blogspot.com/2011/06/second-longest-tenured-dodger-employee.html
Lorena with Pepe Yniguez. Pepe has been broadcasting Dodger games en Espanol since 1999.
Pepe also teams up with Manny Mota calling some games on TV on Time Warner cable channel 858
Javy Guerra got a kick of Rosie bringing the Rookie Hazing picture of Javy dressed as a Taco.
Javy when he saw me that I sporting my Javy batting practice jersey, he turned me around to show another player and said “See? she is my number ONE fan!” :-)
I was playing photographer. Here is Priscy with Javy
Here is Amanda with Javy
Here is Tony Jackson, Beat Writer for ESPN Los Angeles. I like his long hair.
Taking a well deserved rest before we go inside Margaritaville
After food and drinks we headed next door to Saddle Ranch for some tequila shots and to ride the mechanical bull
The bull kicks Rene
Priscy is next
She gets knocked out but she gets back on the bull
She is having a bull, I mean a ball lol
Nice going Desiree! Even falling, you fall with grace.
Time to head back to LA. I am going going back to Cali Cali…..
Next Trip: Leaving Thursday night with Lorena and her niece Elisa. Lorena will be driving. They will drive back to Cali. I on the other hand need to head to NH to work there the following week so I will miss Sunday’s game as my flight leaves at noon. I can’t wait for Thursday night!
When Lorena and I found out that there was going to be a Spring Traning Fanfest 3/3/12, we said “Let’s go!” Rosie, who we met on Twitter last year said “I want to go!” The original plan was to go for the day. We already had a Spring Training road trip planned for the St Patrick weekend so we thought a turnaround trip would be OK.
On Saturday 2/25 I get a text from Lorena that Amanda was joining. A few days later Lorena tells us her friend Priscila is also joining us. Our group had grown to FIVE.
After thinking it over, we thought the original plan was kinda crazy to drive from LA to AZ and come back the same night so we changed it stay Saturday night.
The buz at Camelback Ranch the day before we were to leave was that Sandy Koufax was there! Dodger fans were giddy with excitment.
Kershaw, Sandy Koufax and Don Mattingly. Picture taken by Jon SooHoo.
Because of Sandy Koufax was at Camelback Ranch, our group grew to seven a few hours before we were scheduled to take off. Needless to say some of us hardly got any sleep or none at all.
The minivan arrived at my house about 2 AM. A few minutes later Rosie was dropped off at my house. Because of a mixup, Rosie did not bring anything but her purse. She thought we had changed back to making the trip a turnaround trip. She wanted to stay but we said “There is a Target, close by…. ” So off we went six women and a men in a Blue Minivan.
We arrived safely and it was off to taking pictures. The first one I took was with Gaylord Perry
The second one was with Javy!
Here is Rene and I talking with Jon SooHoo
This picture taken by Dodger main photographer Jon SooHoo, appeared in the Dodgers Photo Gallery. Thanks Jon! . Check out his MLB blog at http://dodgersphotog.mlblogs.com
With Manny Mota on his bicycle
Plenty of pictures were taking especially at Sattle Ranch where 3 of the group rode the mechanical bull but I’ll leave the pictures for another post or maybe I should check with the group if is OK to post.
I had a wonderful time on this trip. Can’t wait to be back at Camelback Ranch for St Patrick weekend. The only thing is I won’t be able to watch the game on Sunday as I am scheduled to work in NH the following week so I am taking a flight at noon.
I dedicate my post and ranking #22 in the January MLB Fan blog to #22 Clayton Kershaw! Congratulations also to Kershaw for signing his two year deal with the Dodgers! How did Kershaw celebrate his contract? By joining the Caravan to pack food bins at the Los Angeles Food Bank where Dodger players and season ticket holders congragated to help.
Kershaw, Shawn Green, Troncoso, Dee Gordon, Tommy Davis, Josh Lindblom, Kenley Jansen, Al Ferrara, Tony Gwynn Jr.

I have not created a new post since November 2nd when I posted about our three Dodgers -Matt Kemp, Andre Ethier and Clayton Kershaw winning Gold gloves.
What a happy day in Los Angeles yesterday when it was announced that Clayton Kershaw had won the NL Cy Young Award! I was anxiously waiting for the results on Thursday. I was busy with a Webinar at work with phone and computer busy but I was keeping an eye on my droid. Sure enough it started beeping with the good news. But in addition to the good news there was an email from the Dodgers inviting us season ticket holders to attend the conference on the field of Dodger Stadium. What was I to do when I had taken the train to work and I was still in the middle of the webinar? Good thing it ended promptly at noon and there were no further questions.
the email said the conference was to start promptly at 1:30 p.m and that fans could start arriving at 12:30 p.m. I called to see if the company car was available. I was lucky! It was available! I then headed to see my boss and told him I had an emergency and had to leave but would be back later on.
What a great day being back at Dodger Stadium! Clayton Kershaw was there with his wife Ellen. Matt Kemp and James Loney were also there. Maury Wills was also there. Prior CY Young award winners Don Newcombe & Fernando Valenzuela were also there. Dodgers who have won the Cy Young: Don Newcombe (1986) Don Drysdale (1962), Sandy Koufax (1963, ’65. ’66), Mike Marshall (1974), Fernando Valenzuel (1981), Orel Hershiser (1988), Eric Gagne (2003) and Clayton Kershaw (2011).
Congratulations Clayton Kershaw!
What a great day in Los Angeles for us Dodger Fans! First we get the news that Clayton Kershaw, Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier win Gold Gloves! Congratulations guys!
Dodger fans are celebrating everywhere!
I am off to the SABR AFL conference in Arizona early tomorrow morning! details here http://sabr.org/latest/exciting-schedule-deck-sabr-arizona-fall-league-conference I am excited about attending and also to see Dustin Pedroia there. Maybe Ethier will also be there….
Love what John Thorn has to say about SABR here http://sabr.org/content/john-thorn-why-im-sabr-member That is the way I felt when I attended my first SABR convention this year. John just says so well. I was thrilled to meet him this year. Take a look at this baseball card from John Thorn. I got the set of Major League Writers from Terry Cannon of the Baseball Reliquary:
Is raining here in the LA area and the news are full of snow forecast at 1000 feet. With the Academy Awards coming Sunday, they are talking that there might be snow at the Hollywood sign which is 899 feet. So tonight is the biggie IF it happens. My Droid is showing 45/34 for Saturday with a picture of light snow.
What I am might miss in LA on Sunday is not the Academy Awards (On TV) but this event:
Vin Scully to be honored at Beverly Hills Wine Fest I would much prefer to hear Vin Scully than any speech from the Academy Awards.
Looking at the weather here in the LA area and in Arizona with thunderstorms, I am thinking of the song “Riders On the Storm” which made me think of “LA Woman” Three LA women will be heading on the road early Saturday morning, hopefully no snow on the road but most likely rain.
Remember Camelback Ranch Grand Opening in 2009? I had taken the Southern California Auto club magazine Westways with me. They have a section in the magazine titled “Picture This” where they feature travelers showing the magazine at their vacation destination. That year I took the magazine, submitted the picture and it made the magazine in 2009.
Dodgers Flashback Uniform.
Fans were given an option to vote for their favorite Brooklyn Uniforn out of three so that the winner uniform could be worn at the Dodgers Flashback days. The votes were counted and the winner is …..
My choice was the 1911 jersey, but the guys (Andre Either, Clayton Kershaw & Matt Kemp) make any uniform look good! I like the 1940’s uniforms! The uniforms will be worn for six midweek games with half price food & drinks. Also there will be half price tickets.
Flashback uniform picture from Jon SooHoo.
A year ago Kenley Jansen was in the minor league catching. Seeing his arm was better throwing fastballs than catching them, he was converted to a pitcher. I actually went and pitcked him up in my MLB Fantasy team (Los Locos Azules) but ESPN still has him as a catcher.
In the dugout with a big grin on his face, Clayton Kershaw was watching Kensley who had come in the 9th inning to save the game for Kershaw who had pitched 8 shutout innings.
The kid Kensley looked calm on the mound. I on the other hand was nervous. Kensley had made his major league debut the night before when the Dodgers used nine pitchers in the 13 inning game.
Kensley was going to face the 4th, 5th and 6th batters, of
Here is the video I recorded:
Kershaw came out and gave him a big hug. See, when Kershaw was in the Gulf Coast league, Kensley Jansen was his catcher. “He had an incredible arm back then” kershaw said.
Dodgers WIN! and take the series against the Mets 3 games to 1.
Here is the post game interview with Kenley Jansen:
Dodgers are off today and start a three game series with the first place Padres. Go Dodgers!
Len who I baptised “crazy Mets fan” came from San Diego to watch the game. He sat in the right field pavilion for the AYCE (All you can eat). I caught with him before the game and after the game. This is after the game when the kids were allowed to run the bases. Afterwards the Media softball game started.
Update: I uploaded the videos. Also ESPN has updated Kenley from a catcher to a relief pitcher!
From Last to First. The Dodgers’ win coupled with the San Diego loss took over first place in the National League West for the first time in 2010! . After losing to Colorado on May 8, the Dodgers were in last place, 6.0 games behind the Padres, and have gone 22-7 since!
Kuroda-san pitched his best game against Carpenter but Kuo got the win and Jonathan Broxton the save. Final score: Dodgers 1, Cardinals 0.
Last Saturday my friends and I went to see Ely at an assigned signing at the At&T store in Culver City. We found Ely to be personable and adorable. Here are some pictures:
All about Ely
Ely Signed my scorebook on a scoresheet where he pitched! He looked at it and said “This is Cool!” He was impressed with Lorena who asked him who his favorite pitchers were growing up. I took a picture of Lore and Ely with her camera. Then after my pic with Ely, we were asked if we wanted one with both of us in the picture.
Thank you Ely! Thank you At&T and thank you KABC for the tickets! We sat in the Reserved aisle 7 on Sunday, courtesy of KABC.
Tonight’s game: Clayton Kershaw against Wainwright. This time I will be able to watch the whole game. Yesterday I was working with the Red Cross collecting pledges for the upcoming Annual Blood Drive for Saturday June 19.
This is an annual competition between the Angels and the Dodgers Booster Club. If you donate at this annual Blood drive, you get a voucher for your choice of team tickets, a commemorative t-shirt, a voucher for fish tacos from Wahoo, and a voucher for the Laugh Factory in Pasadena!
DONATE BLOOD! and GO DODGERS!
Dodgers have played 21 games. Two road trips and one home stand. This last road trip was a tough one where they went 2-7 against the Reds, Nationals and the Mets. They got swept by the Mets.
I felt bad for the Dodger fans that went to see them on the road. My new neighbors to the right of me in the Top Deck went to see them to Washington DC. ITD (InsidetheDodgers) blogmates Oldbrooklynfan and Truebluewill who live in New York, went to see the doubleheader.
Thanks Brian for the picture and for letting me know how to put them together! Truebluewill, crzblue and oldbrooklynfan.
Say hello to our Dodger fans in New York if you run into them.
Let’s Go Dodgers, Let’s Go! Maybe some home cooking will do you good and being back at Our Magic Castle that is Our Lady of Chavez Ravine, Dodger Stadium!
Young Clayton Kershaw (1-0 3:13)on the mound against Pirate Brian Burres (0-1 9.31).
USC Night and hat giveway tonight to the first 20K fans
UCLA Night and hat giveway Friday night to the first 20K fans.
Oh and Matt Kemp: You know we Dodger fans love you! You have been great with us. My friends and I appreciate your hussle, how the kids that run the bases imitate you as you are jumping up and down while waiting to take the field. It looks like you can’t wait for the game to start. You have been nice to us during BP, at events like Caravans, the Bluetopia premiere. We LOVE YOU!!!
