Vin Scully will be on Twitter on Monday December 3, 2012
I can’t wait till Monday at 9:30 a.m. PST when Vin Scully takes over the @Dodgers twitter account for 30 minutes to answer questions from fans. You must use the hashtag #AskVin to post questions.
Mr. Scully celebrated his 85th birthday on Thursday. Steve Dilbeck of the Los Angeles Times checked in on Scully to see what he was doing for the occasion, to which Scully replied: “It’s quiet and peaceful, and I’m reading a good book — ‘Unbroken,’ by Laura Hillenbrand — on this soft day”.
When I read that quote above from Vin, I could hear him in my mind saying it.
Here is a favorite picture of Vin Scully and Jaime Jarrin taken by Jon SooHoo. Mr. Scully has covered the Dodgers for the last 63 years. Senor Jaime has covered the Dodgers for last 54 years. We are truly blessed listening to these two treasures.

Now what can I ask Vin? I did ask a question when Vin was a guest at the Baseball Prospectus Dodger Stadium event.
Here are some of the questions that have been submitted to @Dodgers #AskVin :
What is your favorite Fernando Valenzuela moment? And what baseball book would you recommend?
How many hours of prep work do u do before a game & do u prefer to work alone in the booth or with a color commentator?
From my friend Arturo: “Which Dodger Championship team would be your most memorable one?
In Field of Dreams did you have a script or ad-lib?
As an aspiring broadcaster what can I do to make it big time? I’d like to just like you and do play by play my whole life.
Should questionable players from the steroid era be voted into Cooperstown?
I am sure that by tomorrow there will be plenty of more questions submitted, mines included.
Let’s see if we can get Vin Scully trending tomorrow.
Dodgers FanFest & SABR Day is Saturday January 26, 2013
I knew that the Annual SABR Day is scheduled for January 26, 2013. Now I am finding out that the Dodgers will have their first Winter FanFest on the same Saturday!
My first reaction was “Awe shucks!” but then I started thinking “Why not have SABR at Dodger Stadium?” It would be a great opportunity to pass the word around and see if more people want to sign up to be a member of SABR.
I was told at the last meeting that the location had not been determined. Last year it was at the LA Habra library. It was a great event with Del Crandall in attendance and High School coach Eddie Alvarez. Daryl Gribsby talked about his book “Celebrating Ourserves: African-Americans and the Promise of Baseball”.
Last year the Dodgers were having Open House at Dodger Stadium. I went a day before so I would not miss SABR Day. Last year I said the same thing “Why not have SABR DAY at Dodger Stadium.
From the SABR website at http://sabr.org, this is what i says:
SABR Day is an annual event that brings together SABR members and friends on the same day, regardless of where they live. The fourth annual SABR Day will be held on January 26, 2013. Check back on this page soon as we update our calendar with SABR Day events in your area!
Regional SABR meetings are open to all baseball fans — though we encourage you to join SABR if you like what you find — and are usually free to attend. Guest speakers often include current and former baseball players, managers, umpires, executives, scouts, writers and authors.
This will be the Dodgers first Fanrfest in the Winter. In the past two years we had events where we can volunteer along the players at places like cleanup the ocean and the La River and donating time at the La Food Bank.
I hope that they will still have events like these in addition to the FanFest. Look for more information to the Dodgers FanFest at http://dodgers.com
Update: Vin Scully and Jaime Jarrin will also be at the FanFest!! Also lots of food trucks.
Dodger Promotional Schedule for 2013
I know everyone will have the list but I like to have it handy here so I know where to find it.
The Dodgers Promotional Schedule for 2013 has been released! I am loving the Old Timers Game! and that Jaime Jarrin will finally get a bobblehead! I love the t-shirt last year too with his iconic homerun saying “La Pelota se va se va y despidala con un beso” “The ball is going going and you can kiss it goodbye!”
Sandy koufax & Vin Scully will get another bobblehead! I just hope this time Sandy Koufax will acknowledge the fans at least from the Vin Scully Press Box if not the field throwing out the first pitch.
I see we will also get a Magic Johnson bobblehead and a t-shirt.

MLB Postseason: Another Quadruple Header
Sunday I was planning on going to the San Clemente Seafest but after seeing that there was going to be an MLB Postseason quadruple header on TV, I decided to stay home. I am glad I did stay home to watch most of the four game series. Yeah, I vegetated but in between I did get some cooking done.. I’ll take the train ride to San Clemente another weekend.
Today there is another quadruple header! I am at work but I will work with my headphones on while I listen to some of the local announcers on MLB At Bat. I tend to switch between the home and away team announcers. I have found them a little too homers. That is something that you don’t find with Vin Scully, Jaime Jarrin and Pepe Yniguez.
When I find myself on the road and my MLB At Bat fails me at the stadium, I turn to my radio and listen to the local announcers. In addition to enjoying the game, I like to listen to the local commercials to see who their local sponsors are. I found the milk commercials at Minnesota …wholesome
. By the way, avocados from Mexico commercials in the MLB Postseason? Cool! It did make me want some avocado . Talking about avocados, last weekend was the Avocado festival in Carpinteria, CA.

this reminds me of the avocado trees back home in Honduras. It also reminded me of Duke Snider who had an avocado farm in Fallbrook, CA.
The quadruple header for today:
St Louis at WAS 10 AM PT (1 PM ET) on MLBNetwork. Carpenter against Edwin Jackson.
SF at CIN 1 PM PT (4 PM ET) on TBS Barry Zito against Mike Leake
BAL at NY 4:30 PM PT (7:30 PM ET) on TBS on ESPN radio Miguel Gonzalez against Kuroda-san.
DET at OAK 6:30 PM PT (9:30 PM ET) on TNT Mike Scherzer against AJ Griffin
Ex-Dodgers in the postseason: Kuroda-san, Jonathan Broxton, Guilleromo Mota, Edwin Jackson, Derek Lowe, Jayson Werth, Russell Martin, Jim Thome, Jim Johnson, Xavier Paul, Dioner Navarro and David Ross (Braves)

p.s. Jaime Jarrin twitted this “commendable drive of Clayton Kershaw to intensify the collection of funds to help kids in Zambia. He will have a golf tournament on November 12th in Los Angeles.
I like the quotes once you publish your post here at the MLB Blogs. This is from today:
The art of writing is the art of discovering what you believe. — Gustave Flaubert
La Gran Fiesta: Viva Los Dodgers and A Tribute to Manny Mota
Today is like Jaime Jarrin says “La mamacita de las fiestas” The mother of all the Viva Los Dodgers fiestas. Gates open at 1:30. There are lots of autograph opportunities at La Gran Fiesta. The autograph will start at 2 p.m. with Adrian Gonzalez, Luis Cruz and Hanley Ramirez. I am aiming to be there at 1:30. Hopefully I get to talk to El Cochito

Fernando Valenzuela, Pepe Yniguez and Jaime Jarrin will also be signing I hope Fernando signs something for me like maybe my ticket from Opening Day in 1981 or this picture

Manny Mota being honored for his 50 years in MLB
Manny Mota began his career with the Giants in 1957 out of his native Dominican Republic, and made his major league debut with the Giants in 1962. Before joining the Dodgers, he played for Pittsburgh and Montreal.
In june, 1969, Dodger Vice President Al Campanis pulled of of his greatest deals when he traded for Manny Mota and Maury Wills, giving up Ron Fairly and Paul Popovich in exchange. In late July of that year, Mota delivered his fist pinch hit in a Dodger uniform.
Felicidades Sr. Manuel Jeronimo Mota por sus 50 años en MLB!

From the Cactus League book above. Manny Mota, a rookie with the Houston Colt 45s, poses in front of Geronimo Park in Apache Junction. Looking forward to the Gran Fiesta and Manny Mota being honored!
Feliz Dia de El Locutor. Jaime Jarrin’s Anniversary and I will see Vin Scully on Saturday
Dodgers lost to the Cardinals. It was another frustrating night at Dodger Stadium with the team lack of hitting.
The highlight of the game on Thursday: the Cool-A-Coo! It hit the spot and brought back so many memories back when I used to watch Fernando pitch, back when Scioscia was behind home plate, back when the team was known as “The Big Blue Wrecking Crew“
Another highlight last night: Hanging out with friends especially Lore and little Rachel
Thank you Rachel for my drawing! I love it!
Here is Rachel again. She is a cutie. She and her sister Elizabeth and her parents are season ticket holders. I’ve been seeing since they were babies.
Jaime Jarrin’s Hollywood Star Anniversary.
On this day, September 14, 1998 – Jaime Jarrin received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

You can find the star on the north side of the 6300 block of Hollywood Boulevard. Happy anniversary sr. Jaime!
Feliz Dia de El Locutor
Hoy Septiember 14, es El Dia de El Locutor en Mexico. Today is Day of the Broadcaster in Mexico.
Felicidades a Jaime Jarrin, Pepe Yniguez y a Fernando Valenzuela! Ojala que celebren con una victoria de los Dodgers. Let’s hope you celebrate with a Dodger victory. Feliciadades muchachos!

Baseball Prospectus event at Dodger Stadium
Saturday I am looking forward to attending the Baseball Prospectus event at Dodger Stadium. In addition to meeting many of Baseball Prospectus personalities, Vin Scully will also make a special appearance!

There will also be a question and answer session with industry guests including Los Angeles Dodgers Assistant GM, Amateur and International Scouting Logan White.
The private event is sold out so I am glad that I signed up!
So I was remembering reading about the time Hilda Chester colored her hair red to change the Dodgers luck. They went on to win that day.
Highlights of Dodgers Diamond Backs series: Vin Scully and Jaime Jarrin
Nothing new to report is just has been frustrating to lose to the Diamond Backs.
Only highlights of these last two games with the Diamond Backs have been:

Vin Scully on his special Bobblehead day.
and Jaime Jarrin signing a three year extension. Next year will be his 55th year with the team

Felicidades a nuestro maestro Jaime Jarrin!
Josh Beckett on the mound tonight. Can they break the snake spell?

Wake up Dodgers!
Is frustrating and exasperating being at the stadium night after night and seeing you lose when you can do better than that.
Why are the Diamond Backs dominating the Dodgers this year?
Why are the Diamond Backs dominating the Dodgers this year?
![]()
I don’t know the answer. Is one of those baseball misteries. The D’Backs came into Dodger Stadium with a six game losing streak. But the other record they had going was six straight wins against the Dodgers. Well, make that seven now.
Dodgers wasted a good outing by Clayton Kershaw. They lost 2-0 on Vin Scully Day. The only good thing about yesterday was honoring Vin Scully. Vin was the highlight, the rainbow.

Dodgers have hit some slide with the Rockies and Diamond Backs.

they are now 4 1/2 games back.
Jaime Jarrin was saying on twitter that the Giants are probably singing “La Distancia entre los dos es cada dia mas grande” which means the same as “The distance between us grows and grows”
C’mon Dodgers snap out of it!

tonight: Trevor Cahill for the D’Backs against Aaron Harang.
Congratulations to Jaime Jarrin! He will return next year for his 55th year with the Dodgers. He has signed a three year contract! Felicidades Maestro!

The Dodgers get the first cannon blow against the Pirates
The Dodgers get the first cannon blow against the Pirates!
Shane Victorino went boom

Harang got the win and Jansen got save #24. Jansen is also in my baseball fantasy team, Los Locos Azules!

Let’s do it again! Let’s go Dodgers!
Got title idea from Efren Meza’s tweet. Efren is the Dodgers Spanish Radio Producer/Engineer. He started using twitter a few days ago. He is also responsible for teaching our Spanish announcers Jaime Jarrin & Pepe Yniguez how to to use Twitter. Their account are @trublu_Efren, @JaimeJarrinHOF @PepeYniguez . Efren says that Jaime & Pepe picked it up easily and are having fun. Thank you Efren!
Thank you Jaime & Pepe! Es un honor seguir su poesia Don Jaime y Pepe, no te quedas atras. Ya tuve que usar el Para Burros con dos palabras que no estaba segura el significado.
Welcome aboard Getlemen!
Efren who is in his first year with the Dodgers is visiting the stadiums for the first time. He is taking suggestions for things to do in Pittsburgh and Atlanta.
Here is a nice picture from Jon SooHoo of “El Patron y dos de sus sequaces” In order of pic, Pepe Yniguez, Jaime Jarrin and Efren Meza.
