10 Days till Dodgers Opening Day at Petco Park!
10 days till Dodgers Opening Day at Petco Park! Also 10 days till I take vacation! Yes! I will be in San Diego for the four game series. The Dodger schedule works perfect with a four game series, followed by a day off on Monday then Opening Day at Dodger Stadium so Clayton Kershaw gets to pitch both Opening Days!

10 days. Hall of Famers that wore # 10 and they have had their number retired are : Sparky Anderson, Phil Rizzuto, Andre Dawson & Ron Santo.
I was listening to Jaime Jarrin and Pepe Yniguez broadcasting the Dodger game on Sunday. It was odd that there was no English transmission. Anyway, Pepe mentioned that Ron Santo never saw a no hitter. Pepe also mentioned that he has never seen a no-hitter. Neither have I. I have seen them on TV but never in person.
As I was going thru the retired numbers per team, I noticed that Seattle and Colorado are the only teams that have never retired a number. Both teams have numbers out of circulations like #24 Ken Griffey Jr. and #14 Lou Piniella. For The Rockies, no one has worn Larry Walker’s #33, but probably #17 Todd Helton will be the first number retired for the Rockies.
P.S. After a year in hiatus, I am back to playing Fantasy baseball! So my team, Los Locos Azules are back!! I drafted last but I am happy with my team. Here is what I have:
C Carlos Santana, 1B Joey Votto, 2B Howie Kendrick, 3B Aramis Ramirez, SS Dee Gordon, OF Jacoby Ellsbury, OF Emilio Bonifacio, PF Yoenis Cespedes, Util Alex Rios, Util Adam Dunn, BN Ryan Howard, BN Paul Goldschmidt, BN Jason Bay, BN Chase Utley. SP Zach Greinke, SP James Shields, RP Craig Kimbrel , RP Heith Bell, P Brandom Morrow, P Kenley Jansen, P Francisco Liriano, P Brandom McCarthy, BN Jonathan Broxton.
He Pitched a Perfect Game, I Get a Perfect Ball!
First.
My heart skipped a beat when I got home late last night after a wonderful dinner with friends at El Torito and I openned Facebook to the news from Roberto of Vinscullyismyhomeboy that Vin was taken to the hospital. My heart settled after I heard that he was OK.
Josh Rawitch from the ITD (InsidetheDodgers) blog spoke to him. Vin wanted to assure everyone that he’s fine and that he expects to be at Camelback Ranch this weekend for the telecast on Sunday.

So I am in the back of the car, my friend Marika and her son in the front. We are crusing thru the diamond lane on the 10 Freeway when my phone rings. This guy says “Emma, this is Jeff…… Were you at the Safe At Home Foundation event at the Nokia?
I said “Yes! I had a wonderful time there!” He then says “Well, I am calling you to tell you that you were selected as the winner of the baseball signed by Joe Torre and Sandy Koufax!”
I screamed “WHAT!? WOW! OMG! I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS!” WOW “You made my day! my week! my season! ..” “THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!! ” He said ‘We knew we had the right person when we saw your email name crzblue”
Jeff said he did not have the ball but that he talked to Torre and it was decided that I will be presented with the ball at Dodger Stadium sometime in April. I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS!!!! WOOHOO!!

Fan Appreciation, Traditions and the Postseason
Fan Appreciation Day came and went so now is preparation to the Postseason but first I’d like to write about two traditions that were carried over on Sunday during Fan Appreciation Day.
The first tradition: Robyn and Chuck have been season ticket holders in the Top Deck for a few years now. They started a tradition of bringing a cake or two in appreciation of all the Dodger employees in the Top Deck, the elevator and any other employee that we come into contact during the season. chuck and Robyn start cutting the cake during the 3rd innings and thanking each employee that shows up. slices of cakes are also shared with other fellow season ticket holders and if there is any leftover, with other fans in the area.
Take a look at the cakes below. The first one reads “Thank you Dodger Stadium Employees.” the second one reads “Western Division Champs.”
The second tradition is one that Yankee fans are familiar with.
Joe Torre has a tradition of letting a player manage the last game of the year if it has no bearing on the standings.
Nomar Garciaparra managed the team last year in the Dodgers season finale.
Brad Ausmus said “Joe came up to me when we were celebrating on the field last night and said, ‘You want to manage tomorrow night?’ I said, ‘I’ll be here,’ and he said, “All right, you’re managing.”
On Sunday , one Dodger poster jokingly posted in the Game Thread “What a lousy lineup! Fire the manager!”.
Ausmus was assisted by “bench coach” Mark Loretta , “hitting coach” Jim Thome and “bullpen coach” Jeff Weaver who was kept busy with all the pitchers coming out of the pen.
Ausmus went to the mound to make a pitching change in the eighth to replace Ronald Belisario with Scott Elbert, then put himself in as a pinch runner for Thome in the bottom half after his hitting coach singled.
“I’m turning the reins right back over to Joe — if he ever shows up again,” Ausmus joked. Ausmus is 1-0 as a manager!

On to the Postseason!!
I am super excited about tomorrow’s game at our beloved Dodger Stadium or as Vin Scully called it when we started the season on a long winning streak at home, ”The Magic Castle.”
We are ready to rock that place! Bring on the Cardinals!
I really think our two lefties Randy Wolf and Clayton Kershaw can take on the Cardinals. Aside from Pujols, Cardinals don’t do well against lefties.
The Dodgers are coming off a two game winning streak off the hot Rockies. The Cardinals are coming with a three game losing streak.
I think our lefties can hold the Cardinal hitters from scoring if we can hold prince Albert to singles or walks. Same with Holliday. Dodger hitters have done well against Waingwright. Our hitters just need to soak in the Magic Castle to wake up those bats.
I expect that our dynamic duo of Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier will continue to have success and if Manny and Loney start hitting, watch out!
If we can win one at home and one at St Louis (I know the Dodgers record in St Louis) and bring it back to the Magic Castle, I think we can do it!
LET’S GO DODGERS!!! LET’S GO!!
How the West was Won or Lost: Dodgers vs Rockies Take two!
My Friday evening started very nice with Tommy Lasorda being honored. Before I went to the field level I ran into Nancy Bea (Dodger organist) and her husband. They are so sweet. I run into them every once in a while in the club level. I have a picture with her from a while back this time I wanted a picture with both of them.
\
Here is a picture of the Tommy Lasorda plaque giveaway:
Isn’t this a nice plaque? this one is #5271 of 60K.
The Tommy celebration was wonderful. Lots of filmage of his manager years. There was this film of the Phillie Phanatic making fun of Tommy with a look-like Tommy inflatable doll where the Phllie Phanatic starts beating it up
Lots of players that played for Tommy in attendance like Steve Sax, Leary, Karros, Monday, Landreaux, Charlie Hugh, etc. All were wearing their jerseys.
As everyone knows, Dodgers are still looking for that illusive win. They have lost five in a row for the first time. Manny struck out FOUR TIMES, all with runners in scoring position. Casey Blake, who returned to the lineup also struck out FOUR TIMES.
The Dodgers 3-6 hitters were 0-14 with 9 strickouts. Ouch!
Here is hoping and praying that the Dodger bats wake up from their long long slumber zzz.
Can they do it? Tomorrow will be the best chance with Clayton Kershaw going for the Dodgers. Can Manny bounce back after a miserable week which has seen him go 0/10 with 8 strikeouts including his last six time at bat.
C’mon Keshaw! I want to see that public enemy number pitch working!
Go Dodgers!!!
They may be bums, but they are my bums!! Go Dodgers!!
Dodgers seeing Snakes. Kemp and Vin Scully Videos!
Dodgers seeing Snakes.
A good matchup with Clayton Kershaw and Dan Haran turned the Snake way. Kershaw was so wild in the 2nd inning with a 35-pitch four-run inning that included three walks, two wild pitches and three hits including one an RBI single by pitcher Dan Haren. He did struck out nine in 4 1/3 innings.
HBP: Reynolds got hit by Bellisario. Ethier got hit by Haran. Both clubs were warned.
Torre: Why is Kemp hitting 7th??. If you had Kemp and Manny back to back we could have had more runs. Why is Russell hitting 2nd?? You just got to bat Russell and Loney lower.
Donny: Are you working with these guys (Russ and Loney)? These two need to step it up and start hitting!
Manny got 2 singles and a double while Matt Kemp got a HR and a double! Way to go boys! Speaking of Matt Kemp, here is a picture I spotted at Union Station:
