Thank you to Clayton & Ellen Kershaw for their wonderful work giving back to the community. Is no wonder that Clayton Kershaw was the 2012 Roberto Clemente Award winner.
p.s. lost my original post here so I had to redo this. No problem, learned something.
MLB Postseason: Another Quadruple Header
Sunday I was planning on going to the San Clemente Seafest but after seeing that there was going to be an MLB Postseason quadruple header on TV, I decided to stay home. I am glad I did stay home to watch most of the four game series. Yeah, I vegetated but in between I did get some cooking done.. I’ll take the train ride to San Clemente another weekend.
Today there is another quadruple header! I am at work but I will work with my headphones on while I listen to some of the local announcers on MLB At Bat. I tend to switch between the home and away team announcers. I have found them a little too homers. That is something that you don’t find with Vin Scully, Jaime Jarrin and Pepe Yniguez.
When I find myself on the road and my MLB At Bat fails me at the stadium, I turn to my radio and listen to the local announcers. In addition to enjoying the game, I like to listen to the local commercials to see who their local sponsors are. I found the milk commercials at Minnesota …wholesome
. By the way, avocados from Mexico commercials in the MLB Postseason? Cool! It did make me want some avocado . Talking about avocados, last weekend was the Avocado festival in Carpinteria, CA.

this reminds me of the avocado trees back home in Honduras. It also reminded me of Duke Snider who had an avocado farm in Fallbrook, CA.
The quadruple header for today:
St Louis at WAS 10 AM PT (1 PM ET) on MLBNetwork. Carpenter against Edwin Jackson.
SF at CIN 1 PM PT (4 PM ET) on TBS Barry Zito against Mike Leake
BAL at NY 4:30 PM PT (7:30 PM ET) on TBS on ESPN radio Miguel Gonzalez against Kuroda-san.
DET at OAK 6:30 PM PT (9:30 PM ET) on TNT Mike Scherzer against AJ Griffin
Ex-Dodgers in the postseason: Kuroda-san, Jonathan Broxton, Guilleromo Mota, Edwin Jackson, Derek Lowe, Jayson Werth, Russell Martin, Jim Thome, Jim Johnson, Xavier Paul, Dioner Navarro and David Ross (Braves)

p.s. Jaime Jarrin twitted this “commendable drive of Clayton Kershaw to intensify the collection of funds to help kids in Zambia. He will have a golf tournament on November 12th in Los Angeles.
I like the quotes once you publish your post here at the MLB Blogs. This is from today:

Dodger Rubber game at San Pancho. Happy Perfecto Anniversary Sandy Koufax. Crisis! Kershaw scratched
Happy 47th Perfecto Anniversary to Sandy Koufax!
Today September 9, 2012 is the 47th anniversary of Sandy Koufax Perfect game at Dodger Stadium against the Cubs.
Happy anniversary to Sandy and the Dodgers!

Dodger Rubber game at San Pancho
Great win and much needed by the boys in Blue yesterday. I go thru so many emotions with this team from frustration to relief that they tied the series. I called San Francisco Pancho because that is one of the nicknames for the name Francisco. Another nickname is Chico, that is what they used to call my grandfather on my mother’s side. Chico Giants sounds like an oximoron as chico means small. So Rubber game at San Pancho.

Two lefties to the mound: Clayton Kershaw (12-8 2.79) against Barry Zito (10-8, 4.51) I hope Kershaw gets better run support.
OH NO! PANIC! CRISIS! Clayton Kershaw has been scratched!
Does that baseball Rubber ducky stress reliever work????
Good luck Kerhsaw
And good luck Joe Blanton! May the Dodgers give you some runs
OK, like my friend Rosie said, at least is not Kershaw’s arm. Dylan Hernandez just posted that Kershaw is scheduled to pitch at Arizona. I feel a little better.
Let’s Go Blanton! Let’s go Dodgers!
Dodgers were robbed at Milwaukee
With the bases loaded and one out in the 10th inning, Ryan Braun hit a shallow flyball. Kemp could have thrown the baseball better as it bounced twice. BUT

Nyjer Morgan was out.
Guerrier took the loss. Kameron Loes earns the win.
Dodgers now need to avoid the sweep. Early game tomorrow at 10:10 AM Pacific Time. Aaron Harang goes for the Dodgers against Ex Dodger Randy Wolf. I hope the Dodgers play better against the Brewers.
Dodgers then head to Houston for the weekend.
The next Dodger homestand brings the Atlanta Braves and the Washington Nationals. Tuesday 4/24 will be

Sleeved Blanket night. Javy Guerra doing the commercial.
Saturday 4/28 will be Don Drysdale and Maury Wills bobblehead.
Sunday 4/29 will be Kids Clayton Kershaw replica jersey. Wish I could get one. I could get into the XL.
Ran into this billboard close to my house, one of many Dodger billboards this year with Dodgers celebrating 50 years.

Twitter: Tomorrow at 2pm is the 1st #DodgersChat! Use #DodgerChats to ask Dodgers Team Historian Mark Langill any questions about Dodgers history at Dodger Stadium. Hmmm… what am I going to ask???
Opening Week 2012 at Dodger Stadium
Opening Day was a beautiful day. As is my tradition every year, Nancy Bea Cd played in the background while I got ready to go to Dodger Stadium. I drove to Union Station and hopped on the shuttle from there. My brother Vic and took the first shuttle at 9:45 AM. We got to Dodger Stadium at 10 AM. Game time was 1:10 PM. I heard of other people driving or taking the shuttle late and it took them an hour to get there from downtown. While waiting for the shuttle I heard about Vin Scully not being able to make it to the stadium.
Get well Vin Scully! We Love you!!
I had seen Vin Scully in San Diego and he looked good there but those colds cn sneak up on you. When I ran into him I told him “Good to see you Vin!” He looked back, smiled and said “Good to see you too!” I did not want to bother him so I did not ask for autograph or a picture. He responding to me was good enough for me.
Back to Opening Day! I took out my brand new scorebook and started keeping score. One thing I don’t like about it, is it does not have the little squares to keep track of balls and strikes but I sneak them in there. My outfit for Opening Day was one that I wore in San Diego -The Magic Johnson yellow shirt with my #32 Sandy Koufax white jersey over it. They both wore #32. The only thing with the shirt is that is the same color as the Pirates.

Picture from the LA Times. Nice man to my right with the grey Clayton Kershaw jersey. He liked that I was keeping score. He wrote the name of my blog.

Dodger Stadium celebrating 50 years on its inagural day of April 10, 1962 had members of that year being honored. It would have been great for Vin Scully to introduce them as Opening Day has been the only day that Vin Scully addresses the crowd at the stadium. Pic by Jon SooHoo.

The Beach Boys , also celebrating 50 years, sang one song and the National Anthem. Pic by Jon SooHoo

Our lefty Clayton Kershaw went seven strong innings. He left with no decision. @Skinnyswag_ Dee Gordon continues making the games excting. I love this team! Pic by Jon SooHoo

Andre Ethier in his 30th birthday hit a homerun to right field! in the 8th. Kenley Jansen pitched the 8th and Javy in the 9th for the save! Did I say that I love this team? Pic byLa Times.

Dodgers celebrating the win on Opening Day!
Chad Billingsley pitched the second game. He had another great game and another win.
Dodgers going for the sweep tonight 30% chance of rain with those chances increasing into the night BUT It can’t rain. It never rains in Calfiornia. haha. Just in case, I got my raincoat. Go Dodgers!

‘ITwas the Night Before Opening Day
‘Twas the night before Opening Day, when all through the park
not a creature was stirring, not even a lark
The bats were hung by the helmets with care,
In hopes that the Dodgers soon would be there
The fans were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of a parade danced in their heads;
While Lorena had tweeted that she was loading the MLB At Bat App
I settled down to take a short nap
When out on the field there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
Away to Petco Park we flew like a flash,
Drove up I-5 almost near crashed.
The MLB Bloggers were blogging like there was no tomorrow
While Padre fans drank Coronas; drowning their sorrows,
When, my wondering eyes saw the mound and the bases
It was Clayton Kershaw, the CY Young of 2011 aces,
With a smooth young coach acting so calmly
I knew in a moment it must have been Mattingly.
More rapid than the Eagles his courses they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;
“Now Kemp! now, Ethier! now, Dee Gordon and Loney!
On, Javy, on Jansen! and hopefully Billingsley!
Can’t wait till Thursday; Opening Day is the reason
“Good luck to my Dodgers and to the fans a great-season.”
