Vin Scully has called Dodger Stadium, the Magic Castle. That is what it was on Wednesday, The Magic Castle, The happiest place on Earth.
Greinke loaded the bases in the first inning with no outs but for some reason, I was not nervous. Greinke got out of it with no runs scored by the Cardinals. Greinke ended up giving up two runs in the third but that was all in his seven innings of game 5 of the NLCS. The bearded one, Brian Wilson was lights out in his 8th. Kenley Jansen in the 9th gave ME palpitations. The Cardinals scored two more runs but Kenley got out of it. Dodgers had four homeruns in the game: Adrian Gonzales off Kelly, Crawford off Kelly, A.J. Ellis off Mojica and Adrian with his second one off Oxford. Final score: Dodgers 6, Cardinals 4.
After game 3 on Monday, Waingwright said that Adrian’s celebratory gestures were Mickey Mouse. I wore my Dodgers Mickey Mouse ears for game 4 and 5. I lost track of how many fans asked me “Where did you get the Mickey Mouse ears?” They wore selling them back in 2010 at Disneyland when the MLB All-Star game was in Anaheim. My friend Greg and Linda who have yearly passes wore able to get them for me back then.
After Adrian’s first homer-run he did this:
Adrian was asked about it afterwards and he said he was just having fun. when he hit his 2nd home-run, he was all business. Adrian likes Mikey Mouse! Anyone remember when he came from Boston to the Dodgers? He was wearing a Mickey Mouse shirt.
Adrian Gonzalez with his Mickey Mouse t-shirt when he came to the Dodgers from Boston. In the picture, HOF Jaime Jarrin and Pepe Yniguez, Spanish broadcasters for the Dodgers.
We were all having fun with Waingwright’s comment and that is the reason I wore my Mickey Mouse ears.
My friend Greg also wore his for Tuesday’s game
Ok, enough Mickey Mouse stuff. haha. OK, one more picture that Hector Becerra of the LA Times took when he snuck in behind me.
Several people at work approached the following day “Were you wearing Mickey Mouse ears at the game?” “I saw you on TV”
Yep that is me! It is a good thing I asked for a day vacation instead of “calling in sick” As it was I was in a little trouble at work for forgetting about a meeting on Wednesday but hey! my vacation day got approved.
OK so the Dodgers are back in St Louis for game 6. Clayton Kershaw against Michael Macha. Game time at 5:30 Let’s go Dodgers!
Let’s give Kershaw some run support
What a great game by the Dodgers at the Ravine! What a brilliant performance by rookie Hyun-Jin Ryu! Ryu shutout the Cardinals 3-0. He scattered three hits in the seven innings he pitched.
The game started with the unveiling of the flag on the field
the 30 home run team of Steve Garvey, Reggie Smith, Dusty Baker and Ron Cey threw out the first pitch
Super fan Rachel and my brother Victor after the victory
Don Mattingly was all smiles
Hanley was all smiles too! I love Hanley Ramirez! I love the Dodgers and I love LA!
I am at work today but only for half a day. I am taking half day vacation today and heading to OLOCR, Our Lady of Chavez Ravine for game 3 of the NLCS.
Things look dire for the Dodgers trailing the series 2 games to none to the Cardinals.
According to @GrandesenlosDeportes from the Dominican Republic Hanley Ramirez has two broken Ribs. As of the time I am writing this, Dodgers have not confirmed this. I am praying the results are still negative.
Talking about praying, yesterday I googled St Rita church. As some will remember a while back I did a post on St. Rita being the patriot Saint of Baseball http://crzblue.mlblogs.com/2011/06/03/patron-saint-of-baseball/
I was looking to see if I had a St Rita church close to me. I found her! St Rita of Cascia church is located at 318 N. Baldiwn Avenue in the city of Sierra Madre in California.
Saint Rita’s Catholic church sign
St Rita is the saint of the Impossible
Needless to say I went there to pray for a friend, for my family, the Dodgers and me.
May the Dodgers bat come alive
May the Dodgers health improve
May the Dodgers defense be brilliant
May the Dodgers pitching continue to be superb
May the Dodgers beat the Cardinals!
Go Dodgers! Heading to our Magic Castle, Dodger Stadium also known as OLOCR.
I had left these haikus in a draft and since we just loved game four, here they are:
Kershaw, takes the ball
on three days rest for game four
He goes six *applause
Garcia was good too
gives two homeruns to CC
the score tied two-two
Braves runs are unearned
Adrian tagged with two errors
Dodger fans restless
On to the seventh
Belly comes in gives up run
three to two Braves lead
That dreaded seventh
Howell replaces Belly
gets the last two outs
Puig with a double
in the eight, the kid can fly!
Vin says “Wild Horse Loose”
Uribe cant bunt
So he goes Boom! Fans go nuts!
Dodgers now in front.
final game four score
Dodgers four, Braves three WOO-HOO!
The Beard gets the win
Kenley Jansen with the save
Love LA & VIN
Greinke and Kelly
the matchup at Bush Stadium
Get the win Greinke!
Let’s go Dodger Blue!
IT’s Time for Dodger Baseball!
Ready to Woo-Hoo!!
Weird Saturday without any MLB baseball game. I started my Saturday meeting some train friends at Nick’s in Los Angeles close to Dodger Stadium, a little closer to Chinatown. Nick’s was started by a couple of cops in the 40’s. The place is a hole in the wall but the food is good. I had the huge ham and eggs with a big biscuit that came with homemade jam. It was delicious with the home made salsa.
We were there to see our friend Nora who no longer takes the train as she changed jobs some time ago. She is now pregnant and the baby girl is coming very soon. Nora and her husband Sax are Dodger fans so I need to find some Dodger baby stuff for her.
Afterwards my friend Sonya and I walked to Homegirl cafe. I like the food there so maybe next time we will go there. This time we wanted to check out the store. I ended up buying a top and two loaves of bread. One is a chocolate chip wheat bread. I toasted two slices at home and they were divine oozing with the chocolate that made it seem more homemade. My friend bought some pastries and a nice soup mug.
Whenever you are close to Dodger Stadium, check out these two places.
With no MLB baseball on Saturday, I was switching channels when I ran into a Mexican baseball game between Los Algodoneros de Guasave.
against the Tomateros de Culiacan
I have never been south of the border to watch a game. I saw Marlon Byrd of the Cubbies was playing for the Tomateros.
NLDS Game 6
BUT today is Sunday! The NLDS Game 6 starts at 4:30 PM Pacific Time in San Francisco. Let’s hope the Cardinals can wrap it up today beating the Giants.
The Giants will send Vogelsong and the Cardinals will counter with Carpenter.
Let’s go Cardinals beat SF!
In the meantime the Detroit Tigers are waiting and waiting.
I have not had time to post here and after the Dodgers performance, I was a little frustrated.
Dodgers lost the two game series with the Diamond Backs at Arizona. Now they are back at Dodger Stadium but they have not played well at home! Well, they have not play well on the road either but the home record is worst.
Something got to give since The Cardinals have not done well either. They got swept by the Padres! The Padres are playing very well.
Somebody got to score starting tonight! I was telling a friend at work “The Dodgers can’t score even with pockets full of bills in a whorehouse” haha can I say that here?
I love my Cardinal fan friends but I hope your team goes down tonight!
I wonder if Cardinal girl is going to any of the games.
Let’s Go Dodgers Let’s Go!
I am heading to the stadium soon! It is Blanket night although is hot here in the Southland.
Josh Becket faces Lynn.
EXTRA EXTRA! The Cool -A Coo’s are back at Dodger Stadium! That can cool me off!
Cool-A-Coo picture from LA Times .
p.s. I am excited about the Baseball Prospectus event at Dodger Stadium on Saturday!
Saturday is the first Dodger FanFest at Dodger Stadium. Originally I was scheduled to go to the Baseball Reliquary Bill VeeckFest but I am going to the Dodger Fanfest and I will have someone tell me all about the Veeckfest and have them buy me the biography “Bill Veeck: Baseball Greatest Maverick” by Paul Dickson. The program include a panel discussion on the legacy of Bill Veeck, film screening & book signing.

In the meantime is Fireworks Night to the 80’s music. Dodgers have been paying tribute to decades with the Fireworks and also having a highlight video from that decade. 80’s is a good one with two World Series & Fernandomania. I got my 1981 t-shirt on and my satin Dodger jacket.
What a game! The Redbirds were on oxygen about to expire when they came back alive! They fought back deficits of 1-0, 3-2 4-3, 7 -4 and 9-7. This game had everything! I really thought Texas had won it when the score was 7-4 in the seventh but the Redbirds went on to win it in the 11th with a final score of 10-9! What a game 6! Bring on Game 7!
How about a caption?
I was watching the World Series game in Spanish on FOX Deportes with Manny Mota as color analyst. When the game ended, they switched to Soccer so I switched the channel only to find that ESPN Classics was showing game 6th of the 1981 World Series! What a treat for me! I had forgotten that Howard Cosell broadcasted the game. The guys in the booth could not make up their mind who the World Series MVP was going to be. They were saying “Ron Cey” Then they were saying Pedro Guerrero. Finally they said both Cey & Guerrero. As we know there were three MVPs with Cey, Guerrero & Yeager. It was nice and sad to see Steve Howe on the mound. Steve had a cocaine problem. He was given so many opportunities by the Dodgers.
Who is that person next to Pedro Guerrero?

A while back when the Dodgers got Uribe, I posted a question on Ozzie Guillen’s blog. He responded! Thanks Ozzie!
Q: Since the Dodgers have Juan Uribe and he played for the White Sox, what can you tell us about him?
A: Uribe is awesome. He may look like a little Buddha, but he is an amazing baseball player. I think he is so good because he is not afraid of the moment. He really is fearless, maybe because he has no idea how big the moments actually are! (haha) I only kid with him because that’s my boy, and he will be great for the Dodgers.
As I always say, keep the questions coming!
Until next time …
Haha. Ozzie is funny. If you want to sent Ozzie any question, go to his blog at http://ozzie.mlblogs.com/
