Spring Training 2011: Goodyear Ballpark and Getaway Day
This is from our getaway day on Tuesday March 1st. The Dodgers were playing the Cleveland Indians at Goodyear Ballpark.
We checked out from our Presidential suite which we loved! and headed to Camelback Ranch to watch our boys in Blue practice.
Andre having a snack. Manny Mota’s bicycle in the background.
We could hear Davey Lopes chewing the guys for some of their running blunders.
Trayvon Robinson. I remember when I went to to an Inland Empire game at San Bernardino, he made a great catch.
Andre Ethier posing with us. He was so nice that he waited for Lorena to join us in the picture.
On to Goodyear Ballpark.

I love this banner at Goodyear Ballpark remembering Bob Feller.
They were selling Bob Feller baseball cards with proceeds going to the Bob Feller Museum so I bought this one:
And Randy of http://heirloom.mlblogs.com/ send this signed photo of Bob Feller! Thank you Randy!

Spring Training 2011 Camelback Ranch Pictures. Part One.
On Sunday February 27th, Camelback was opened around 10:30 A.M. Usually they open at 9 AM.
When we went in the boys were exercising
I ran into Jose Mota of the Angels talking to his dad Manny Mota of the Dodgers. Jose was on the outside of the fence.

I spotted Mike Scioscia signing autographs so I headed to the visitor’s dugout. He signed my Union 76 giveaway pictures from back in his playing days.
Jason: It was great that you got to serve as the bat boy!
Andre Ethier!
As bat boy Jason was getting back to the dugout after giving the umpire some baseballs we yelled “LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BAT BOY!” Jason turned around and waived. Some fans behind the Dodger dugout turned to see who was yelling that.
After the game with another lemonade wtih watermelon flavor for the road.

Snow expected in the LA Area? One more day to head to the Ranch
Is raining here in the LA area and the news are full of snow forecast at 1000 feet. With the Academy Awards coming Sunday, they are talking that there might be snow at the Hollywood sign which is 899 feet. So tonight is the biggie IF it happens. My Droid is showing 45/34 for Saturday with a picture of light snow.
What I am might miss in LA on Sunday is not the Academy Awards (On TV) but this event:
Vin Scully to be honored at Beverly Hills Wine Fest I would much prefer to hear Vin Scully than any speech from the Academy Awards.
Looking at the weather here in the LA area and in Arizona with thunderstorms, I am thinking of the song “Riders On the Storm“ which made me think of “LA Woman“ Three LA women will be heading on the road early Saturday morning, hopefully no snow on the road but most likely rain.
Remember Camelback Ranch Grand Opening in 2009? I had taken the Southern California Auto club magazine Westways with me. They have a section in the magazine titled “Picture This” where they feature travelers showing the magazine at their vacation destination. That year I took the magazine, submitted the picture and it made the magazine in 2009.
Dodgers Flashback Uniform.
Fans were given an option to vote for their favorite Brooklyn Uniforn out of three so that the winner uniform could be worn at the Dodgers Flashback days. The votes were counted and the winner is …..
My choice was the 1911 jersey, but the guys (Andre Either, Clayton Kershaw & Matt Kemp) make any uniform look good! I like the 1940′s uniforms! The uniforms will be worn for six midweek games with half price food & drinks. Also there will be half price tickets.

Spring Training or Bust and Dodgers Opening Day Update
Camelback Ranch or Bust
Spring Training here we come! We drive Saturday night from the LA area bound to Glendale, AZ or Bust! We’ll see if we get stopped because we are Hispanics J We’ll report from Arizona. Countdown: Five days!
37 days till Opening Day
When I first heard that ESPN wanted to broadcast Opening Day for The Dodgers against the Giants, I was not happy. My first thought was “Oh NO!” No Vin Scully!” That is sacrilegious! Vin is entering his 62nd season as voice of the Dodgers and this will be his 54th home opener in Los Angeles
But serenity has been restored! It has been announced that Vin will be covering the game on the radio doing innings one to three and seven to nine. Ah! I feel much better. Listening to Vin Scully makes TV unnessary but I’ll be at the game!
I am also glad that the Dodgers held their ground because if it was up to ESPN, the game would have been moved to Frisco! Still I am not happy that it got moved to an evening to accommodate TV.
Opening Day was supposed to be Friday April 1‘st but because of ESPN, it will be Thursday March 31st at 5.P.M Pacific Time. Unlike some, I was able to change my vacation day. BTW, I argued with my boss that it should be a holiday since I call Dodger Stadium, Our Lady of Chavez Ravine but he would not buy it.
To hold us up until we get to hear Vin Scully again, here is Bill Buckner 1986 game or 9th Inning of Sandy Koufax”s Perfect Game

Vin Scully and Fans at Camelback Ranch
Tony Barrial started this on facebook:
Vinny’s 60th Dodger season deserves a salute. SO at the bottom of the 4th EVERY HOME GAME in 2010; before the Dodgers UP; All fans stand up, face the pressbox and chant Vinny until stadium is chanting and Nancy starts to play “It Had To Be You!”

VIN SCULLY! WE LOVE YOU!!
Also, from my trip at Camelback a few weeks ago, here is a youtube of the Boilers Dodger club fans shot by Roberto of Vinscullyismyhomeboy when I was at Camelback:
Earlier I had taken this picture outside by the roped area.

I had never heard of the this Dodger club until I saw them at Camelback Ranch.
Pictures from Spring Training 2010 Trip
Hi everyone! I’ve been so busy that I have not had a chance to make a new post since Sunday. I have a lot of picures but here are some from our trip to Camelback Ranch:
We got on the road very early in the morning. This picture is going by Yucca Valley, close to Joshua Tree where they have lots of windmills.
Ahhh… we arrived free of any speeding tickets. Here is a welcome sign at the CVS across from Camelback Ranch that reads “WELCOME LA DODGERS BASEBALL FANS”
See those beads we are wearing? Well, we bought them in the giftshop but after putting sunblock, my friends noticed that my neck was bleeding Dodger Blue! But is a cute necklace. See, is not beads but little baseballs!
Pictures from the following morning. Manny Mota, as usual on his bike. Later on inside, prior to the game, he threw me a ball and after juggling it, I was able to catch it!
The other Manny, as usual, with Rafael Furcal. Here he is talking to fans.
The famous Roberto of VinScullyismyhomeboy blog.
Andre Ethier!
Matt Kemp.
My Loney!
No more beard for Casey Blake! I actually liked the beard! I can’t say “Stay Thirsty my friends” from the Dos Equis beer commercial.
Frank McCourt. Notice Josh Rawitch to the left. One fan asked Frank “how is the wife?”
I just noticed my earring came out in that picture! Thank you LuvetheDodgers23 for my beautiful earrings!
More pictures on the new two or three posts. I got so many pictures!
Greetings from Camelback Ranch! Thank you Mike!
Greetings everyone!
First of all, I want to give a big thank you to my friend Mike! Wow Mike! You blew me away with this post! Not only did you give us a wonderful post of our Brooklyn Bums when they won in 1955 but when I saw the title I was what? Wow Mike! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
When I first started reading Mike’s blog, I became hooked so jump on his Brooklyn Trolley for a wonderful ride!
Spring Training in Arizona
I have been having a ball here in Arizona! If you have not been to Spring Training, make an effort to go. Is so much fun seeing the regular players, the ones trying to make the team and others within the organization and those that work covering the Dodgers.
Tony Jackson who used to work for the Daily News and now works for ESPN Los Angeles, came over to greet me after I yelled “HEY TONY!” I am so glad that Tony is back working as a Dodger Beat Writer!
And Mike, yes, the patch is a go! Here is Loney sporting the patch. This picture is also for those that are looney for Loney:

Here is one for all the Ethierholics! is ao nice to see Andre’s swing! Thank you to my friend that I have nicknamed her Juana Soo Hoo for the great pictures she takes!

When I get home I will upload more pictures!
I also have some funny anecdotes to tell!
We had a lot of fun at the first game when we got there about an hour before game time. The following day we got there as soon as they let us get in which is 9:AM. I greeted the players as they made their way through the roped area. Everyone was so nice with “Hey!, good morning!” “hey, how are you?” I LOVE MY BOYS IN BLUE!
Rafael Furcal and Manny seemed inseparable. I greeted Rafi and he greeted me back. And then I said “Como estas Manny” He reponded smiling “Bien, Bien, si me puedo levantar en la manana, todo esta bien.” “Good, good, if I can get up in the morning, eveything is fine!”
Sunday’s game, after no news online that the game was going to be cancelled at Mesa, we headed that way. The Cub’s ballpark reminded me of Wrigley Field. There was a signing with ex-players such as Fergusen Jenkins, Rollie Fingers and Tommy Davis. I stopped to talk to Tomy Davis so I did not see who else was there. As I was talking to Tommy Davis, they made the announcement that the game had been cancelled so after I purchased a ball signed by Tommy Davis, we left. I know I can get Tommy to sign at Dodger Stadium or any event by the Dodgers but I felt that I am helping by making a purchase there. The balls were $20. Tommy signed it “Tommy Davis NL Batting Champ 1962 1963.
We ended up at the Arizona Museum for Young (AMY). They are featuring “Play Ball! The Cactus League Experience” from Feb. 26 – Nov. 7 2010. I recomended for both adults and kids. You can read more about it at www.arizonamuseumforyouth.com I will post pictures about this place after I get home!
Tomorrow we head to Scottsdale to watch our bums play the hated Jints.
Sandy Koufax at Camelback Ranch
I love that after the Safe At Home Foundation event at Nokia Theater in LA, Sandy Koufax flew back, yes back! to Camelback Ranch!
What a thrill for the young and older (we are starting to have too many of those) players to have Sandy Koufax at the Ranch!
I love this posted by Scott from the Inside The White Sox blog in yesterday’s entry:
We couldn’t top the Dodgers “special coach” for today’s B Game … Hall of Famer Sandy Koufax was in attendance.
Mike: Koufax was giving away the secrets of the Mets pitching staff. Just kidding Mike!
My schedule for the weekend, God wiling, is:
Friday at Camelback against the White Sox. White Sox are the home team.
Saturday at Camelback against the White Sox. Dodgers are the home team.
Sunday at Tempe against the Cubs.
Monday at Scottsdale against the hated Jints.
If anyone from the blogsphere is at any of these locations, let me know! I love to meet baseball fans!
Weather forecast for Arizona:
A shower of runs for the Dodgers and just a few scattered hits given up.
Dodgers Damaged Goods… Spring Training plans! Get Well Roberto.
Took this picture back in December when we went to Dodger Stadium to do a little Christmas shopping. We thought it was funny finding these two t-shirts in the box.
Spring Training plans this year:
My friend LTD23 and I settled on the dates we will be at Camelback Ranch! We will be there the first weekend in March and the last weekend of March. YIPPY!!! I can’t wait!
We will see our beloved Dodgers against the White Sox on 3/6 and 3/7 and Monday at Scottsdale against the hated Giants. On 3/27, we will see our bums against Seattle at Camelback Ranch and Sunday we will travel to see them against Cincinnati and Monday travel to see them against Cleveland. I hope, I hope I hope I will see Bob Feller!
Get well Roberto.
