Hanley Ramirez interview by Manny Mota
I love this interview! Hanley Ramirez being interviewed by Manny Mota. It happened early in the season. It is in Spanish so below the video I will put the translation.
Manny: When you were doing the stretching exercises, tell me how did you feel with the way the fans welcome you?
Hanley: Great, Great. One is here because of the organization and the fans. It fills me with great emotion and it gives me great energy to play this game.
Manny: Your first at bat was an out. Tell me about the second at bat, the homerun, that swing. It was the same swing that you connected in the Classic playing for the Dominican Republic.
Hanley: Well you know this game is of adjustments, of bettering each bad at bat. The 2nd time it was in my zone. If it is in my zone, I am going to swing.
Manny: Were you a little impatient, a little nervous in the first at bat?
Hanley: No, I don’t think it was nerves. It was the happiness I felt of being on the field.
Manny: There predictions when you would return but you came back earlier than anticipated. Why did you do it?
Hanley: That is what they said but we put an extra effort. The doctors and all involved did a great job. I thank God for that.
Manny: how did feel with the bobblehead giveaway and the homerun?
Hanley: Very happy. the fans since Spring Training have been telling me on Twitter that they were waiting with much anticipation this night. I was not looking for a homerun but it came out that way. It is a God blessing.
Jaime Jarrin (narrating the homerun) “La pelota se va se va, y despidala con un beso”
Manny: You used all the field and you went with the pitch. The double was to right field. When you doall that, you become the best hitter.
Hanley: You thought me that of using the whole field. It was the type of player you are. (this was said in such a respectful way using the “Usted.” The way Hanley was looking at Manny too was with such respect. Love it!)
eso me lo enseno usted de usar todo el terreno y con el tipo de pelotero que es us
Manny: You helped the DR team win. You will also help the Dodgers get to the World Series?
Hanley: That is the main thing. The was very nice helping the D.R. but the most important thing is here with the Dodgers.
Manny: How do you feel how the fans have treated you?
Hanley: Great, Great. I was talking with my agent that I want to stay here. The fans are incredible & I feel at home.
Manny: Ready to play everyday?
Hanley: Thanks to God, that is the mentality that we have and to help the team.
Manny: Thank you very much for the interview. Good luck. It is a pleasure having you here.
Hanley: Thank you so much.
Polo: Gracias a Manny and “I See You” Hanley Ramirez.
