SABR Allan Roth Chapter meeting at the Sport Museum

What a great opportunity to visit the Sport Museum in Los Angeles when the SABR Allan Roth Chapter scheduled the October 26 meeting there! I invited Lorena and Rosie to come along. The first words I heard Lorena say was “WOW!” Yeah, my sentiments too. What a great museum! I had seen part of Gary Cypres collection at Dodger Stadium and also at the Folks museum when both the SABR local chapter and the Baseball Reliquary had meeting events there last year, but to see the 30,000 square foot warehouse that is home to the is amazing.

Gary Cypres.  I did not see him at the museum but I had met him at the Dodger FanFest back in January when Mark Langill, Dodger Historian introduced me to him.

I did not have time to completely see all the collection but here are a small portion of pictures from the Sport Museum:

I think I will do a 2nd part of this post.  Still got more pictures and I have run out of time.  I also want to talk about our speaker Jay Johnson and the two presentations we had that day.   I had a great time at the SABR meeting and checking out the museuum.

Dodger Stadium: The Happiest Place on Earth, The Magic Castle

Vin Scully has called Dodger Stadium, the Magic Castle. That is what it was on Wednesday, The Magic Castle, The happiest place on Earth.

Greinke loaded the bases in the first inning with no outs but for some reason, I was not nervous. Greinke got out of it with no runs scored by the Cardinals. Greinke ended up giving up two runs in the third but that was all in his seven innings of game 5 of the NLCS. The bearded one, Brian Wilson was lights out in his 8th. Kenley Jansen in the 9th gave ME palpitations. The Cardinals scored two more runs but Kenley got out of it. Dodgers had four homeruns in the game: Adrian Gonzales off Kelly, Crawford off Kelly, A.J. Ellis off Mojica and Adrian with his second one off Oxford. Final score: Dodgers 6, Cardinals 4.

After game 3 on Monday, Waingwright said that Adrian’s celebratory gestures were Mickey Mouse. I wore my Dodgers Mickey Mouse ears for game 4 and 5. I lost track of how many fans asked me “Where did you get the Mickey Mouse ears?” They wore selling them back in 2010 at Disneyland when the MLB All-Star game was in Anaheim. My friend Greg and Linda who have yearly passes wore able to get them for me back then.

After Adrian’s first homer-run he did this:

Adrian was asked about it afterwards and he said he was just having fun.  when he hit his 2nd home-run, he was all business.   Adrian likes Mikey Mouse!  Anyone remember when he came from Boston to the Dodgers? He was wearing a Mickey Mouse shirt.

Adrian Gonzalez with his Mickey Mouse t-shirt when he came to the Dodgers from Boston.  In the picture, HOF Jaime Jarrin and Pepe Yniguez, Spanish broadcasters for the Dodgers.

We were all having fun with Waingwright’s comment  and that is the reason I wore my Mickey Mouse ears.

My friend Greg also wore his for Tuesday’s game

Photo: They've both been offered big bucks for the ears.

Ok, enough Mickey Mouse stuff.  haha.  OK, one more picture that Hector Becerra of the LA Times took when he snuck in behind me.

Several people at work approached the following day “Were you wearing Mickey Mouse ears at the game?”   “I saw you on TV”

Yep that is me!  It is a good thing I asked for a day vacation instead of “calling in sick”  As it was I was in a little trouble at work for forgetting about a meeting on Wednesday but hey!  my vacation day got approved.

OK so the Dodgers are back in St Louis for game 6.  Clayton Kershaw against Michael Macha.  Game time at 5:30  Let’s go Dodgers!

Let’s give Kershaw some run support

Dodgers Win NLCS game 3! I Love LA

What a great game by the Dodgers at the Ravine! What a brilliant performance by rookie Hyun-Jin Ryu! Ryu shutout the Cardinals 3-0. He scattered three hits in the seven innings he pitched.

NLCS game 3 at Dodger Stadium. St. Rita, Saint of Baseball

I am at work today but only for half a day.  I am taking half day vacation today and  heading to OLOCR, Our Lady of Chavez Ravine for game 3 of the NLCS.

Things look dire for the Dodgers trailing the series 2 games to none to the Cardinals.

According to @GrandesenlosDeportes from the Dominican Republic Hanley Ramirez has two broken Ribs. As of the time I am writing this, Dodgers have not confirmed this. I am praying the results are still negative.

Talking about praying, yesterday I googled St Rita church.  As some will remember a while back I did a post on St. Rita being the patriot Saint of Baseball http://crzblue.mlblogs.com/2011/06/03/patron-saint-of-baseball/

I was looking to see if I had a St Rita church close to me.   I found her!  St Rita of Cascia church is located at 318 N. Baldiwn Avenue in the city of Sierra Madre in California.

Needless to say I went there to pray for a friend, for my family, the Dodgers and me.

Steve and I were featured in an article in the La Times today by Hector Becerra.

2013 NLDS: Dodgers vs Braves. Let’s Go Dodgers!

I am super excited for this series! The day is finally here! Thursday at 5:30 PM PT at Turner Field. Kershaw 16-9 1.83 ERA will face Medien 15-12 3.11 ERA.

I leave work via Metrolink train so when I leave I will have my headphones listening to the game. I should have a “Do Not Disturb” sign. As I am typing this, this co-worker that is a Giant fan is talking to another co-worker telling him “I’ll be rooting for the Braves” then he looks at me doing the tomahawk chant. UGRR I hate that.

This morning on the train I open the LA Times and went thru the whole sport section seeing no mention of the Dodgers. Then I kept looking thru the paper until I found this special Dodger Section!

LA Times special Dodger playoff section!

Last night I stopped at the Olvera Street church. La Placita to light a candle for the Dodgers

Afterwards, Lorena noticed that the candle that I lid (right), is the one for Saint Judas Tadeo, el santo de las causas desesperadas The saint of difficult causes.

While taking the train home I picked up the Downtown News.  Take a look at this cartoon by

Cartoon by Doug Davis.  Amen Mr. Davis.

Let’s go Dodgers! Let’s Go!  Is it 5:30 yet?   I am sporting my Clayton Kershaw t-shirt (women size) underneath a cardigan sweater at work.  I have a pair of Dodger earrings on too.
