A Battle of the West for the 2010 World Series
Who would have thought at the beginning of the season that we would be seeing the AL West against the NL West in the World Series. After all, it supposed to be the weakest divisions according to the experts, right?
I certainly would not have picked those two. But let’s see what the experts at SI picked back in April
San Francisco was picked 3rd and the Padres last.
In the East, well just look at the cover and the title at the top that said “The Yanks will Repeat in the AL East:
Thanks to poster Lny4Loney at the ITD blog that told us we can go back to the SI vault and read any story ever published by SI at: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/ I actually went back and read articles from 1955 that were written by Roger Kahn. I even went back to 1954 to see who was favored at the start of the season.
Congratulations to both teams. The Rangers have never won in their existence and the Giants have never won in San Francisco. The last time the Giants won was in 1954 when they swept the favored Cleveland Indians.
No respected Dodger fan should root for the hated Jints, so
GO RANGERS!
Emma,
It might not be your Boys in Blue deciding the last team standing in 2010, but you can take pride in 2010’s N L top dog came out of your tough division.
Should be an exciting event with mostly night games for us in the East, but nice afternoon by the bay for those in Cali.
Funny how the WEst ruled this year in both leagues and neither team got much respect in April.
Goes to show you anyone can win, but thankfully the winner will not have on pinstripes this year.

Cliff,
Yep! The West reign supreme.
I hope the Rangers wear Blue! but no matter, I’ll be rooting for them to win their first WS.
Emma,
Rangers do wear blue (cap, stocking, underwear, and also alternative jersey), though not totally.

Nao,
Thanks! Glad to see you are still blogging!

I am putting the WS schedule here for my reference. I’ll be hearing/watching from LA for the first three games and the last four I’ll be in NH.

Hi Emma!
Well, as blue as I bleed, I am really torn about who to root for in this world series. The Rangers are an obvious choice because they have never been to the world series, but then … there is Lyncecum, and Posey, and Bumgardener and even the struggling Panda.
Rivalries aside, there are some incredible kids with as much heart as I have ever seen on the Giants. They are very much like our Either and Loney and Kershaw. Kids in there with the right reason, the right passion; playing the way the game should be played.
I believe the Rangers have a chance to be strong for years to come and make it back to the post-season. Not so for the Giants. I think Bocce got very, very lucky this year and I do not think they sustain it. I think this is their chance, and then they are right back to competing in the toughest division in the National Leauge – yes, the west… don’t let those East Coast commentators fool anyone…
So, I think, gulp … I have to temporarily say – Go Jints – for now, for the next few weeks. And after that, they become our hated rivals again .. but not for now.

Jeanine!
Good to read you here!
Both teams got a nice baseball story, I’ll agree with that and also that Bochy indeed got lucky this year. Also bringing in Lincecum could have bit hin the ****. But for me, Go Rangers and Bengie Molina. There is a nice story too.
this year definitely went against the grain. I’m loving this match up as im sure all baseball fans are. i hope people tune in cause it is bound to be one of the most competitive ones in recent history

That just goes to show how accurate predictions are! Nobody knows anything, which is what makes baseball so much fun.

Jane,
Yep. Just like I was telling a co-worker who was saying that he could manage just because he played all the way till High School. The laughing lady picture that you like to post came to mind.

LOL Kaiser! Laughed out loud here at work when I saw that. Ahhh no thanks! Is enough that I know two Dodger fans that are rooting for the hated Jints! NO, NO NO Senor! ! not me!!!
Aawww c’mon, you know you wanna!
Well now there is nothing left but to hope the Rangers completely demolish the Giants, a sweep would be sweet, but I’ll just take the Giants being embarrassed…

Jeff,
You bet your …patootie I’ll be rooting for the Rangers.
Emma,
The Rangers can wear to shades of Blue, maybe get double good karma for that fact.
Going to be fun and will get some excitment back into the Dallas/Fort Worth area this time of year.
Would love to see Josh hoist up this last great trophy.

Okay yeah, don’t root for the Giants. Gotcha. WINK. (You can message me in secret on Facebook when you want to gush about them with me.)
Kaiser,
I was giving a hard time by two co-workers because I am wearing a black top and I put on a Halloween pin of a painted pumpkin. I knew someone at work would give a hard time. is just that a friend gave me four Halloween pins painted by his mom. They are adorable so I’ve been wearing a different every day
