From the Bay to El Lay

The Dodgers took 2 out of 3 from the Giants!

Friday:     10-3

Saturday:  9-7

Sunday:    2-7

Friday 9/11:  Our warrior Hiroki Kuroda gave us 8 strong innings.

File:Hiroki Kuroda.jpg

Casey (at the bat) Blake returned from five games off with a three RBI homerun!

Dodgers own Matt Cain.  He is 0-7 lifetime against the Dodgers while Hiroki Kuroda is 5-1 against the Giants.

Saturday 9/12:

Vicente Padilla improved to 3-0 since joining the N.L. West turning in six solid innings.

Russell Martin & James Loney homered on Saturday.  These two are heating up!  Torre needs to keep James (ballgame) Loney in a grey uni.  All his homeruns (12) have been on the road.

Sunday 9/13.  Ahhh the matchup of Chad Billingsley and our old pitcher Brad Penny who really,  really (haha remembering Jane’s book “An Ex To Grind”) wanted to “beat LA“.

You see Penny left the Dodgers on not so nice terms. For one, the Dodgers didn’t believe Penny last season when he said his shoulder was hurt, and he didn’t take that very well. After Penny signed with the Sox he let the Dodgers know how he felt.

Then Larry Bowa responded.

“You mean the same guy (Penny) who was never on time, out of shape and has one complete game? He has more stuff to worry about in the A.L. East than me. He has to worry about getting people out. He was never on time, was out of shape and never helped the kids out. Put that on the (expletive) dot-com. Put it in the headline.”

Upon his arrival to the Giants Penny met with the media, and one reporter asked him about pitching in front of 42,000 Dodger hating fans. Penny interrupted the reporter, then corrected him; “You mean 42,000 and one.”

Vin Scully mentioned Sunday that Larry Bowa and Penny met behind closed doors.

Penny did beat the Dodgers 2-7 but heck the important thing is that the Dodgers took the series!

I am really, really worry about Chad Billingsley.  Like Vin Scully said “the mistery of Chad continues.”    Chad has struggled big time in the second half.

Dodger Homestand:

The Pirates are in town starting tonight!.

The matchup is McCutcheon against Jon Garland.

Tonight is also

Free Dodger Dogs for everyone!  We never had this promotion before, so let’s see how this goes.  I understand that they will hand out coupons to everyone.

Let’s Go Dodgers!

Magic Number is Sweeeeet 16!!  Andre Ethier’s Number!

    Buz,
I can’t believe it that we are barely seeing the Pirates now for the first time! yeah, let the Rockies and Giants fight it out. You know Colorado has to also play the Cardinals.

Congrats on beating the Giants in the series. Sorry to hear Chad has been having a rough time though. The good news is that the Dodgers are stacking up wins again. Free Dodger Dogs for everyone? That’s a whole lot of hot dogs. Wow.

    Kaybee,
I don’t know why they say the NL West is weak. Detroit would be in 4th place in our division. We’ll see how crazy it gets with the free Dodger dogs.
    .
    Jane,
Thanks! Always good to beat on the J-I-N-T-S. Chad is being a huge rough time. He is a big enigma. The Stadium averages 40,000 in attendance so let’s see how many we get tonight. I am curious to see what the final number of hot dogs they will serve, free and paid. There is also the section in the Right Pavilion that has AYCE.

    Matt,
Good to read you again. I just saw your latest post. I printed it and will read it at the stadium. You know Vin only does the first three innings on the radio. Do you do the MLB Audio or TV. I only have the audio since I use that while I work when my Dodgers are away.

    Hey Ted,
A friend here at work who’s name is also Ted, said that the Dodgers sell like 25,000 Dodger dogs a game. It will be interesting to see how many they shell out. I was just telling another friend that will be at the stadium. He told me “is a good thing you are telling me because my family does not eat Dodger dogs so I’ll have to eat them myself. ” I LOVE grilled Dodger Dogs with relish and mustard!

Got to tell you, just the thought of a FREE Dodger dog has me salavating for some good, old American beef weiners right now.
What a great offer, heck I have always wanted to try one of those Chavez Ravine specialties of the house.
Still, it was awesome that you helped your own cause this weekend by pushing back the Giants.
That will put a dent in their plans for a post season berth, and also give you some breathing room right now.
Seems like the team is beginning to peak at the right moment.

    Rays,
The first Dodger dog of a homestand tastes so goooood and tonight was no different. In fact, it tasted better. Yummmy. About the 7th inning this guy was telling me “Hey Emma, this guy here says they ran out of Dodger dogs here.” I told him to go to the Reserved one level down but I was thinking afterwards “why is he asking me?” It was funny. Russell is starting to hit and also Raffy and Loney, although Loney is on the road that he does well.

    Julia,
Dodger dog was excellent! Kuroda is such a warrior. First play in the minor league after getting hit was a come-backer.

Just saw the schedule for next year! Dodgers at Fenway Park! I want to go! I want to go!!
