After tonight’s game against The Giants, the Dodgers will return for an 11 game homestand against SD (4) AZ (2), WA (2), and SF (3) Woohoo! I can’t wait to see the Boys in Blue!!
In the meantime the series against the Giants is tied 1-1. We lost the first game and won the second one. Billz went 7 1/3 innings in a gutsy performance but Broxton got the cheap win with Ohman getting the save, Howry got the loss.
Here are some Mannyfunny quotes from http://losangeles.dodgers.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090428&content_id=4471972&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=la
With the game tied, 3-3, Ramirez led off the top of the ninth inning with his third double of the night.
“They call me double-maniac,” said Ramirez, 3-for-3 with two walks and two runs scored. “I set the table now. Ethier is the hitting machine. He’s the RBI man.”
Lots of giveaways for this homestand.

Update: I forgot to say that the ones with Nomah had Mariaches so I hope we still get to hear the Mariaches serenating us while we eat. Also the food included Rice, Beans, Tacos and quesadillas with different salsas. yummm
I was Thrilled that I was invited to this premiere on Saturday 4/18/09. My friends and I were looking forward to see how the movie about the Dodgers and their fans turned out. We got to see a lot of Tim Marx_the producer and his camera guys at the stadium and also on some road games during all of the 2008 season.
Players Chad Billinsgley who pitched a great game ealier in the day, Clayton Kershaw, Matt Kemp, James Loney and Andre Ethier attended the event. Also in attendance were Charlie Steiner, Rick Monday, Dr Steinberg, Pepe Yniguez, Josh Rawitch,Dennis Manion and organist Nancy Bea. My friends and I had a picture taken with Matt Kemp. Matt was very friendly talking with all the fans that attended the event. I talked with Andre’s wife asking her how was her baby. She told me her father in law was taking care of the baby. James Loney was running late so we just went inside and took a sit in the front where friends of ours were reserving our seats.
We Loved the movie! We relived the 2008 season, we laughed, cheered and I got chocked up during several parts of the movie We already knew that we were not the only crazy passionate Dodger fans but it was nice to confirm that there are a lot of us around. We applauded at the end and we started a chant “LET’S GO DODGERS!”.
Here is the movie poster that was in display at the premiere
Here is Tim Marx, the producer. You can’t see it too well, but I have Dodger earrings, a baseball bracelet, a silver and Blue LA pin and a Dodger bag that Debie Little sent me in the mail when Grady Little was with the team. She sent me a note with it thanking me for filling out two boxes of ballots for Russell Martin.
Here is Matt Kemp. A fan that always paints his face is in the background. He comes out in the movie saying “this is my church!.” Yeah baby! You got that right! Dodger Stadium is our church!
Erik and I are posing here with one of the Dodger ambassadors. I love that all the male ambassadors were wearing vintange Dodger uniforms. Jordan is wearing Duke Snider’s number.
The following day when my friends and I got to the stadium early for BP, a gentleman asked me where my 70’s outfit was (see my post on the 70’s Fireworks). Well, we started talking to him and then we noticed that he was wearing a tag wtih the last name Ethier. We did not know that we were talking to Andre’s dad! I told him “You were taking care of the baby Saturday night!.” We stayed there for a little while talking to him about the team, players, Andre, road trips and speeding tickets in Arizona (he lives in AZ).
So you all read about my 4 trips to Camelback Ranch during The Dodgers Spring Training right? Well, Arizona countered my Fastballs with Curveballs!!
I knew in one of those trips our picture was taken on the freeway but what do I get in the mail? Not one, not two, but THREE speeding tickets!!
I was like Oh No! That is not me on the pictures!!!
Surely I should have slowed down or taken this
on closer examination of the dates and times I was like
What???!? Two tickets within 3 minutes???????
Surely there must be something I can do about at least removing one!
evil, evil, evil.
36 cameras on the following freeways 10, 101, 51, 60, 117, Take a look at this link for all the camera locations http://photoenforcement.azdps.gov/Cameras/
What a busy Saturday! It all started with meeting at 9:am for breakfast at Barragans on Sunset, five minutes away from Dodger Stadium. Here is the restaurant’s breakfast sign outside.
Here is the regular menu and menu special with a Dodger hat we put there.
Here are the dishes we were having: Chilaquiles and huevos rancheros. Bloody Marys are $2.50 and they are good so are the dishes. For those that might not know Chilaquiles is a combo of crispy corn tortillas cooked with eggs, chopped tomatoes, onions and jalapenos serve with sour cream, rice and beans. yum. It was good!
After a hearty breakast we were ready to head to the stadium for photo day. Here is a picture of my friend Erik & I while we waited for the players. I found I heart Dodgers banner a couple of years back at a local antique.
Here is our James Loney! yeah, we sang to him.
I love Manny! He remembered us from Camelback Ranch! He was very friendly with everyone.
I look short (I am 5:7) next to our closer Jonathan Broxton.
Here is Andre! My tilley hat comes out.
Billingsley picked up his 3rd win even though the Rockies were getting him into deep counts. Manny along with Ethier went yard with two homeruns!
The day was topped by watching the Dodger premiere movie “Bluetopia”. Tim Marx did a wonderful job of capturing the fans love for our beloved Dodgers. I laughed, I cheered and got choked up watching it. James Loney, Billingsley, Matt Kemp, Andre Ethier and Kershaw attended. I’ll say more later about the event. I am glad that I got to go and sit with my friends that I have made because of our love for our Dodgers.
So here is what I had on for the 70’s celebration. BP was still taking place on the field. haha should have combed my wig.
This one I bought at the stadium so I took a picture of the picture
Notice my Dodger pins. One says “Fanatico por vida”. Fan for Life, and the other one is for Vin Scully.
Dodgers come from behind to beat the Rockies and celebrate with fireworks! to the tune of 70’s music and of course “I LOVE LA”. at the end.
Bad News: Doug Mientkiwicz is going to have to have surgery on his shoulder on Monday and is going to be out for a while. He was doing so well. Good Luck Doguie!
Blake DeWitt will join the big league club tonight. DeWitt, like last year spent a few days in the minor league only to be brought back again.
Tomorrow is Dodgers, Dodgers, Dodgers with photo day, game and Dodger movie premiere.
My Dodgers swept the Giants! Billingsley was lights out! Kershaw struck out 13 while giving up only 1 hit (a homerun). Stults got out of trouble and got the win! Life is good. Now the Rockies are in town and our blogger Tom should also be here. I am looking forward to meeting him. Tom: Email me!
tonight is 70’s celebration at OLOCR (Dodger Stadium) so I am dressing like the 70’s. I needed some earrings so I went to this beauty supply store close to work that carries some other stuff like earrings. I have been there before when I went to pickup a rental in the same shopping center for one of my trips to Camelback Ranch. the owners are a charming older couple that when they saw my Dodger bagpack they told me that they are big Giant fans. We started talking that day about our respective teams and old players. They even offered me a ticket to a weekday game at Scottsdale but I ould not go during the week.
Anyway today I returned to look for a pair of earrings! I found a blue pair of hoops with matching necklace and bracelet. The man kidding around told me he did not want to talk about his Giants! but we still talked about our team and no I did not get on his case for losing the series. He told me he was at the Home Opener. I wish I would have known! I gave him a Giant hat I had from a game I had gone to San Francisco last year. I was saving it to give it to a friend of mine that is a Giant fan but she moved away.
Tomorrow the game is at 12:40 p.m. pacific time. Tom: If you go to the game don’t forget the time change! . FOX Sport picked up the game. Also before the game is Photo Day so I will be there at 11:AM to go on the field and take pictures of my boys in Blue!! At night is the premiere of the movie “Bluetopia” which I have an invitation to watch the screening! busy, busy weekend! Sunday’s game is regular time (1:10 p.m.). Monday is a day off and then my boys in Blue head to Houston, Colorado and then San Francisco. KingofCali: Are you going to any of the games?
I’ll post pictures over the weekend! If I find Tom I’ll take pictures of him!
I hope everyone is having a beautiful Jackie Robinson Day! I am off in a few minutes to my beloved OLOCR (Our Lady of Chavez Ravine). I got my Jackie Robinson jersey in the car!
I am still high from the great Opening Day! After Vin Scully threw out the ceremonial first pitch, I could not stop the tears when I heard Vin say “Two things, #1 In all the years I needed you more than you needed me”. “#2. Is time now for Dodger Baseball”. He threw out the ceremonial first pitch to Joe Torre. Joe came over afterwards and touched his face. Vin’s wife was wearing a beautiful baby blue dress.
The players were announced in numerical order with Tommy Lasorda being first with his #2 retired number. No, he did not have his uniform on. He only wears it during Spring Training. the players came out from the field level and the outfielders and pitchers from the left field pavilion. The last number coming out was #99 Manny.
We all heard O-Dog hit for the cycle, Andre hit two homeruns but Chad Billingsley cannot be overlooked in his great performance where he did not walk a batte rand he struck out
13. 11. Thanks LuvDodgers23 for the correction!
Wishing you all a great Jackie Robinson Day!

This is Vin’s 60th years with the Dodgers! That means he started in
1949! in 1950! Thanks Malleycat for the correction.
In Honor of Jackie Robinson:
The 1949 All-Star Game at Ebbets Field marked the first appearance of black players including Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella, Don Newcombe and Larry Doby. Here is the All-Star pin from that year.
Like Vin says ‘IS TIME FOR DODGER BASEBALL!!!!

Back in LA after watching all four games in San Diego against my Bums! Bad loss Thursday! Corey Wade lost the game but it was a loss by the whole team. Too many runners left stranded. The team can drive us nuts sometimes with some tough losses but there we are back again watching them and feeding our addiction.
As my friend and I were watching our boys in Blue boarding the bus on their way to the airport to head to Arizona we were saying that if we would have planned it well, we could have taken off to Arizona! Is that insane?
James McDonalds did not fair well on his major league debut in Arizona. He left after 2 1/3 innings. Kuroda has been placed in the 15 day DL with a strained left oblique muscle. Erik Stults has been recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque to start Saturday. Oy Vey!
Monday will be the home opener! I can’t wait to be back at OLOCR (Our Lady of). The team drive us nuts sometimes with some losses but there we are back again watching them and feeding our addiction.
Between the four different weekends at Camelback Ranch and the 4 days in San Diego, I have been living out of a suitcase. I was reminded at work that I need to make a business trip back East. Maybe if I am lucky, I can combine it with a road trip.
Woohoo! I have been invited to the premiere of the Dodger movie “Bluetopia” on Saturday 4/18. Information about the movie Bluetopia here Bluetopia I met Tim Marx last year while he was filming at Dodger Stadium and also on road games. I can say that he sure was working hard making this film. I am sure it is going to be great!. I can’t wait to watch it!
For the Ethierholics!
For Doguie’s fans:
Rest in peace Nick Adenhart….
It was a beautiful day in San Diego at Petco Park. My friend and I drove here, checked into our hotel and then headed to the stadium. I love Opening Days! They are so special, Is like Christmas for adults! The Padres are celebrating 40 years of being into existence. We got a padre hat at the entrance which I’ll save it to give it to the first person that want it.
Dodgers beat Peavy! We beat Peavy! You have to understand that Peavy has always been a Dodger killer. I was hoping for this game to get his pitch count and try to beat the bullpen.
I am using my friend’s pc as I was having problems with mine so this is a short post. Our tickets yesterday were between third base and left field so I was hearing Padre fans picking on Manny. Today our tickets are behind the Dodger dugout! Game time is 7:10. We only had tickets and hotel stay for two nights but we are staying an extra night so we will catch the Wednesday night game which they are predicting rain. Thursday’s game is a day game so we might make that one and then drive back to L.A. We have a beautiful view of the the ocean from our hotel. Everyone have a great day!
